#ad Spain, August 12. The sun was 7.5° above the horizon when it vanished behind the moon.

We spent days scouting the Sierra de Urbión above Soria for a spot high enough to clear the haze and low enough to keep the sun inside the landscape. We found it at 2,228m, above a glacial lake, with 1:45 of totality.

At the top, the @missionworkshop x @landspeeder_ Meridian LS and Capsule Camera Inserts were the hub for my gear: camera, lenses, drone and batteries, all within reach in the dark. On the scouting days, the pack carried my equipment across granite and rock towers in serious heat.

The final two images are from Chile, 2019. Seven years earlier, over the Pacific.

Available in limited quantities, the Vandal Ultra is an expandable, high-capacity backpack built from Challenge Sailcloth Ultra 400X, an exceptionally strong and lightweight technical fabric developed for demanding applications.

Designed to transition from everyday commuting to travel, grocery runs, photo shoots, and gear-heavy missions, the Vandal expands from a streamlined 29 liters to an enormous 65 liters in seconds. Made in California from 100 percent ultrafine Australian Merino wool, the Mission Tee is knit from an 18.5 micron, 170 gsm fabric that is naturally soft, breathable, and odor resistant.
