Oh, Dad. I dreaded ever having to write this, and it came far sooner than any of us expected. You fought so hard these last four weeks, but in the end, your body was tired and had other plans.

I feel nonfunctional. A life without you never existed in my mind, and I still can’t comprehend that you’re gone.

You were one of a kind. Unapologetically yourself, the funniest person I know, secretly sensitive, kindhearted, fiercely loyal, and boy, could you break some balls. You were an incredible husband, father, and Grandpa, and the connection you and Mom shared was so special.

No one will ever compare to you. I’m crippled with sadness knowing I can never pick up the phone and call you again, or get lectured about my consistently poor decisions. 🙂 I’ll carry your life lessons, stupid puns, and lifelong music library with me forever.

Even after everything you endured in the hospital, one of the first things you said when you came to was that you needed to make sure everyone was okay. That was you. Our protector, always.

I know you’d want us to “chin up” and keep going. Please visit me, Luke, and most importantly, Mom. We have a long road ahead without you, but I hope you’re in heaven finally enjoying that pint you kept asking for.

I love you, Poop. I’ll always be your pumpkin, and I am so honored to be your daughter. There will never be another you.

Thank you for being my dad. Until we see each other again. ❤️

I never thought I’d have another dog after losing my first one so suddenly before Covid. I thought I’d just foster a senior and someone else would adopt you, but after a week, I couldn’t give you back. When I got you in March 2020, they said you were 12—so maybe 18 now. You’ve had no teeth for years, two ACL surgeries, a heart murmur, dementia, just hanging in there no matter what.

You’ve been my soul dog, my best friend through heartbreaks, nine moves, so many changes, and every messy part of my life. I can’t even remember a chapter you weren’t in. Even when your mind started to fade, your body held on a little longer when I needed you most. I don’t even know how to explain what you meant to me, how much you changed my life, or how empty it will feel without you.

I’ll find you in every life. Thank you for every silly, perfect, impossible-to-replace moment. There will never be another you, and I will never be the same. You have been one of the greatest gifts of my life and I have no idea how I will operate without you. Fly high, my love. You can rest now and stop taking care of me. ❤️ by @misskayscott

My Dearest Nino,
You were the brightest light in every room and there will never be another person like you. You spent so much of your time on this earth making people laugh and your energy was infectious. You effortlessly made people happy. Thank you for always checking on me and always knowing when I needed just a simple call, text or classic Nino voicemail. You will always be family to me. While you were taken too soon, I hold comfort in the fact that you are with God. Heaven gained one of the most amazing people I’ve ever met and we will all miss you so deeply. We all have a forever angel. When we meet again, we will be in heaven, eating in and out and drinking Rudy Tudy Tinis (with extra salt). I love you always,
