One of the things we cherish most about MISS READ is the exchange: exhibitors sharing their work with visitors, conversations sparked by a shared passion for art, publishing, and printed pages, and table neighbors who, over the course of the weekend, often become collaborators, accomplices, or even new friends.

The same spirit carries into the program, where ideas are exchanged on stage and conversations continue long after the talks have ended, during the Q&As, in the courtyard, under the shade of the trees, and throughout the beautiful grounds of silent green @silent.green.

These are the moments that make MISS READ what it is: not only a book fair, but a place for encounters, unexpected conversations, and lasting connections.

Some of those moments were beautifully captured by Dimitra Politidou @dimitrapolitidou, and we’re happy to share them with you.

If you spot yourself in the photos and would like to be tagged, let us know which photo you’re in! ❤️

After two quiet weeks of recovery, we’re finally ready to say:

WHAT A MISS READ 2026!

We’re still recovering, both physically and mentally, from such an intense, beautiful, and unexpectedly hot weekend (and week, thanks to our pre-fair with Station of Commons). A special thank you to everyone who joined us despite the heatwave.

Exhibitors from all over the world came together to share, discuss, exchange, and celebrate everything related to books, publications, and publishing practices. What a truly bibliodiverse weekend!

We’ll be sharing more photos soon, but for now we simply want to say THANK YOU.

Thank you to all the exhibitors for bringing and sharing your incredible work despite the heatwave. Thank you to all the visitors for your curiosity and for stopping by. Thank you to everyone who took part in the public program for your ideas, conversations, music, and presence. Thank you to @silent.green for hosting us and making us feel so welcome during this first wonderful year of collaboration. And thank you to our volunteers. You make this fair happen.

That’s a wrap. Until next year!

At 12pm, join the book launch of “Zenit” by Shirin Sabahi, with Vijai Maia Patchineelam and Manuel Raeder, moderated by Elena Malzew (BOM DIA BOA TARDE BOA NOITE). Together, they will discuss Sabahi’s latest publication and the collaborative processes behind it.

At 2pm, “Follow the Tidal” brings together zug press and shushushushu books for a book launch and discussion on independent photobook publishing, artistic networks, and the cross-cultural circulation of publications across Asia, Europe, and North America.

At 3pm, Markus Krieger (ARCH+) presents ARCH+, Germany’s leading magazine for discourse on architecture, urbanism, and spatial practices, offering insights into its editorial approach and recent publications.

At 4pm, attend the launch of the first English translation of Władysław Strzemiński’s “Theory of Seeing”, with Daniel Muzyczuk, Director of Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, the museum co-founded by Strzemiński in 1930. The discussion explores one of the key theoretical texts of twentieth-century art.

☀️⚠️ Due to the extreme temperatures forecast for this weekend, we’d like to reassure everyone that the fair is going ahead as planned. 🙌

The fair takes place in the Betonhalle at @silent.green, an underground venue that is expected to remain significantly cooler than outside. This exhibition hall is located two floors underground and has a ventilation system, which will mainly run in the mornings and evenings to bring in cooler air, and will be switched off during the day to prevent hot air from entering. The ateliers, where the talks will take place, are air-conditioned, and two tents will be set up on the lawn to provide additional shade.

Drinking water will be available at both Mars and Little Mars (the restaurant and café at silent green), where you can refill your bottles.

Please stay hydrated, wear sunscreen when you’re outdoors, take breaks when needed, and we look forward to welcoming you this weekend! 📚✨🫰The fair starts tomorrow, Friday 26, at 5pm! taken in silent green by @missreadberlin

We are delighted to present highlights from our Saturday, June 27th program, Conceptual Poetics Day! The fair opens at 12pm, but the program on the MISS READ Stage (Studio 2) starts already at 10am!

✨ Full details and program are on our website (link in bio)!

This selection of talks and presentations is part of our FOCUS program on Bibliodiversity, exploring publishing as artistic practice, the cultural plurality of experimental reading and writing, and the ecosystems of independent publishing.

At 2pm, join “Rotting Sounds: Subject to Inevitable Erosion” with Thomas Geiger (Mark Pezinger Books @markpezinger.books). At the center of the research project “Rotting Sounds” is the decay of digital music. Rather than understanding deterioration as loss, the researchers approach it as the emergence of a new, chance-driven aesthetic where decay itself becomes composition. The presentation will also introduce a publication made from paper produced out of three years’ worth of collected waste.

At 4pm, Kenneth Ting-Yu Lin (Nomad Papaya Books @nomadpapayabooks ) presents “Iconography of Tropical Plants in Taiwan Vol. VII”. This artist’s book traces the history of a six-volume documentation of tropical plants produced during the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan and explores the traces left by antiquarian books, time, and colonial histories. Serving as a “shadow” of the original publication, the project reflects on memory, nature, and the lingering legacies of colonialism in East Asia.

At 5pm, Daniel Falb @poemphone, in a program organized by Burg Hülshoff – Center for Literature @centerforliterature presents “Earth Spirits: Notations on AI Animism”. Drawing from his forthcoming book, Falb examines the intimate exchanges people increasingly have with AI chatbots while tracing the material infrastructures that sustain them. Through poetry and critical reflection, the project explores how AI is entangled with extractivism, energy consumption, and global systems of exploitation, offering a unique ethnography of the present.

We can’t wait to see you at a thrilling SECOND DAY of the fair this upcoming Saturday! 🎉

TAKE ONE or BRING YOUR OWN

One already made, waiting to find you.
Or one you carry in yourself, marked on site by hand.
Either way, the shapes of MISS READ settle onto something, and leave as ONE OF ONE.

We’re beyond excited to welcome you to MISS READ this Friday, June 26th, at @silent.green! 🎉

Kicking off at 5pm, the fair opens its doors to a world of fantastic exhibitors ready to share their publications and artworks with you!

Join us at 7pm at the MISS READ Stage (Studio 2) for “Forms of Migration: Global Perspectives on Im/migrant Art and Literature”. Moderated by Stefan Maneval (@falschrum_books), this program brings together Aya Sammani, Sascha Thoma (@eps51), Thaer Ayoub @thaer_ayoub, Mati Shemoelof @baghdadijew, and Wendy M. K. Shaw @wendymks9248 for an evening of readings, talks, conversation, and multimedia performance.

Based on the Forms of Migration book series published by Falschrum Books, the event explores how art and literature shape our understanding of migration and challenge common perceptions of im/migrant experiences.

Various artists and authors will present their contributions, reflecting the variety of forms of expression included in the two volumes.

Aya Sammani will read The Road, Longer than the Journey Itself, the story of a breath-taking escape on the back of a pickup truck on its way through the desert.

The Berlin-based design studio Eps51 will present their multilingual and multiscriptural design practice, as well as their design concept for the Forms of Migration series.

Thaer Ayoub will read Ich heimate mich hier / I now home myself here, a poem on the ambiguity and hybridity of im/migrant belonging.

Mati Shemoelof will read a selection of poems gathered under the topic of Yiddish Sound, Deutsche Words, followed by a conversation on the “new syncretic linguistic realities” of our time.

Wendy M. K. Shaw will perform Migrations, juxtaposing the global history of migration with current attempts to obstruct transnational migration movements in a poetic reading accompanied by a slide show.

Join us this Friday for an unforgettable FIRST DAY of MISS READ. We look forward to seeing you there!

Featured exhibitor at #MissRead2026
Today: @umbigo.space

UMBIGO is a cultural platform based in Lisbon, consisting of a magazine published three times a year and an online space with daily updates, both in Portuguese and English. Simultaneously a space for creation, analysis and reportage, UMBIGO has sought to be a forum for art and theory, inviting artists and writers to produce content specifically for the magazine and the digital space. UMBIGO is also a place for cultural engagement, with its annual programme of launches, presentations, art residencies, participation in fairs, international events and exhibitions, making institutional collaborations with various entities a focal point for artistic creation and dialogue.

In 2025, the issues focused on the themes of Fantasy/Sci-Fi (Umbigo 94), Regeneration (Umbigo 93) and Intimacy (Umbigo 92). This year, in addition to these, Umbigo will be bringing the Borders edition (95) — the first title of 2026’s editorial plan, produced in collaboration with the Cultural Section of the Portuguese Embassy in Spain —, and its latest issue, Museums (97), to be launched first-hand in Miss Read.
