it’s been a few months since you’ve been gone and the grief comes in big and shallow waves.

From the moment Matt brought you home, you filled our lives with so much love and joy that I would have never imagined.

Bailey, thank you for allowing me to be part of your world. You helped me through some of the saddest times of my life and have been a part of my entire adulthood. We grew up together, you and I. You taught me to be patient when you would pee all over the house and how you would fight me when I would try blow drying your fur for an hour after a bath. You taught me that love can be shared through the smallest of gestures to the grandest - from the nose boops, to the gentle paw, and to you waiting for us hoomans to come home with your smiling face and wagging tail. You gave everything and never asked for much in return as you cherished the presence of us as enough.

You left us much earlier than I would have ever wanted but I’m so glad you’re not in pain anymore, sweet lil Bailey girl. I hope you’re running around up there, basking in the sun, swimming in the water, and eating all the treato’s you deserve, from pup cups, sweet potato, apples, and even ice cubes 🧊.
