One rule I live by: I never take advice from people who haven’t been where I’m trying to go.

It’s crazy how many people have opinions about lives they’ve never lived, goals they’ve never pursued, and risks they’ve never had the courage to take.

So many opinions are nothing more than projections of someone else’s fears, limitations, and lack of experience.

Instead of looking inward and working on themselves, some people spend their lives criticizing others, blaming everyone around them, and wondering why nothing changes.

Remember this: not every opinion deserves your attention, and not every person deserves a say in your direction.

Take advice from people who have the experience, the wisdom, and the scars to back it up.

Because if someone has never been in the ring, never taken a risk, never failed, never been humbled, and never had to fight their way back up, how can they teach you what it takes to win?

Never take criticism of the journey from someone who has never had the courage to take one of their own. by @missvictorious

Booked a ✈️ and went off the grid for 7 days. 🌴

If you’re a business owner, you know your brain doesn’t just switch off because you’re on vacation.

There’s always something to do, someone to check on, or something you could be working on.

But lately, I’ve gotten a lot better at stepping away without feeling like I need to be everywhere at once.

I still checked in with my team, still handled business, but I actually let myself enjoy being away.

And honestly, not everything needs to be posted in real time.

We get so caught up in capturing the moment that we forget to experience it. We rush to post before we’ve even had a chance to be present. We start looking at beautiful experiences through the lens of how they’ll look to everyone else instead of how they feel to us.

And I think we need to normalize a few things:
• Posting later.
• Being present without feeling the need to prove it.
• Enjoying moments that nobody else knows about.
• Keeping some experiences, places and little pieces of life just for yourself.

Not everything beautiful in your life needs to be shared for it to be real. Sometimes you just need to put the phone down, enjoy where you are and keep a few things for yourself. 🤍 by @missvictorious

When you go to the best restaurants, you expect a certain level of service.
When you stay at the best resorts, you expect a certain level of experience.

You don’t walk in and negotiate the price.

So why is it different when it comes to your hairstylist?

Behind the chair is someone who has spent years sometimes decades.. cultivating their craft.

Education.
Experience.
Long hours.
Time away from family and friends.
Investments in tools, products, classes and travel.
Countless hours perfecting a skill so that YOU can sit in the chair and trust the result.

And yet somehow, the question still becomes:

“Can I get a discount?”

Would you stay at the same job for years, continually invest your time, energy and money into becoming better and be comfortable making the exact same amount forever?

Probably not.

So why should a professional who continues to invest in their craft be expected to never increase their value?

You’re not just paying for the time you spend in the chair.

You’re paying for everything it took to become the person sitting behind it.

Respect the craft.
Respect the experience.
Respect the investment.

And understand that premium service comes with a premium price. taken in Richmond Hill, Ontario by @missvictorious

Blonde girls, we need to talk. ❄️🤍

Winter can be BRUTAL on blonde hair… dry air, static, hats, heat, hard water and less moisture can leave your hair feeling dull, dry and looking nothing like the blonde you left summer with.

But here’s the thing: you don’t need to go darker for winter. You need to change how you maintain your blonde.

✨ Hydration > over-toning
✨ Protect your hair from heat + friction
✨ Keep up with glosses when needed
✨ Don’t wait until your hair is completely dry to give it some love
✨ And most importantly… have a blonde plan with your stylist

Because healthy blonde will always look better than simply lighter blonde.

Save this for your winter blonde maintenance reminder 🤍❄️ by @missvictorious

Respectfully, I’ve never taken someone else’s opinion more seriously than the vision I had for my own life.

When I became a barber, I heard plenty.

Questions. Doubt. Opinions about what women should do, what I should specialize in, and whether I could really build a career behind the chair with clippers in my hand.

I could’ve let those voices become my limitations.

Instead, I kept learning.

I kept cutting.
I kept creating.
I kept challenging myself.
And 15 years later, I’m still here.

Not because everyone believed in me.

Because I believed enough in myself to keep going when they didn’t.

Looking back, I’m actually grateful I didn’t spend too much time trying to prove anyone wrong.

I was too busy building the life I had already envisioned for myself.

So to every woman who has been told she’s thinking too big, choosing the wrong path, or stepping into a space she “doesn’t belong” in:

Listen to the people who genuinely want the best for you. Learn from those who have earned your trust.

But never hand someone else the pen to write the story you already know you’re meant to live.

Too bad I didn’t listen… taken in Richmond Hill, Ontario by @missvictorious
