🎉 This week I’m celebrating the start of my 20th cabiversary! 🎉

On Feb 1st 2007, the Spring cabi collection dropped and I was busy learning the terms, godet and bias cut. ✂️ 👗

I was a Nurse Practitioner with a Masters Degree and practicing clinical medicine. 🏥 I was looking for something fun and found fashion that would be easier to purchase if I had a discount. (So why not sell it?) 🤔 That thought has taken me on a 20 year journey to a life I never imagined.

✈️ 🚘 Traveling to states I would have never visited, attending New York style fashion shows, meeting new friends from all over the world whose lives and stories have expanded my world. 🌎

🌟 Learning the apparel industry strengthening skills in business, entrepreneurship and leadership.

🌟 Watching women transform, find beauty and worth in their lives, all while providing a necessary income for my family!

When I sit back and reflect, so much would be different if @cabiclothing was not in it. I jotted down just a few 20 in honor of starting my 20th year and of course the best may be the last…

💕 I’m surrounded by the most amazing global community of women who have supported my family through it all; raising kids, curing cancer, parental illness and death, through the pandemic, navigating life changes and uncertainty. Through that, this beautiful unimaginable life was created! 🥹

💗 I’m beyond surprised how one little YES opened my world up to so much more. 💗

And guess what? This invitation is open for the right gal with the right drive and now just at the right time!

Looking for women who are like minded, smart, kind, fun have a passion for life and full of grit!

It was wedding weekend and we took a pit stop… or a horse stop! 🐎

10 years ago we took Iric to a @boilerfootball game. 🚂🔨💛 🖤

Unbenownst to us, it was a Hammer Down Cancer game. 🔨 Ironically I was in the middle of my breast cancer treatment.

10 years later I attended that game again, holding up a sign thanking everyone and everything that has allowed me to keep living life: my family, my friends, Purdue and research institutions like Purdue that commit to finding better treatments, better detection, and ultimately better outcomes helping us move toward a future where a cancer diagnosis doesn’t have to be a life altering, terrifying experience.

Earlier this year I walked in the Kentucky Oaks Parade, this weekend I celebrated in another happy place all in an effort to honor the journey with joy. It’s taken a while to get here. 😌

For someone who always wanted to put cancer in the rearview mirror and never look back, marking these milestones is a way to inspire others who may be early on in their journey. I remember needing that inspiration when the fear of uncertainty was my every day. 💪

There is life after a diagnosis, there is joy, fun, adventures and memories waiting to be made ALONG SIDE the fear of uncertainties.

Moments like these are opportunities to stop and recognize celebrate and give thanks to all that has gotten me here: science, faith and the love wrapped up in miracles. 🧪 +🙏🏻 +💕

It’s 9•2•5 Daughter’s Day and most recently dubbed, Dolly Day! Put them together and you get some of the best love and words of wisdom.

“ Don’t you forget who you are and where you came from. And don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t do this or can’t do that. You can do whatever you think you can do.”

“ Greatness is out there. Greatness you can tap into. But it has to start from in your heart.”

I love watching this girl discover her greatness, discover who she is and do it with the biggest best heart and on purpose! That’s our girl! 💖💕💖

I stood at the 9/11 Memorial in 2022 with Ansley and I’ve returned once since. 💕

There is something about being in that space that makes history feel less like history and more like a moment you are standing inside.

At the 9/11 Museum, one of the most impactful displays was the wall "Trying to Remember the Color of the Sky"

The message "No day shall erase you from the memory of time." -Virgil

Oh how this message pierces my soul.

Time does move on. 
Lives move forward.

I cannot pretend do know the anguish of those who lived that day in NY or lost someone they loved.

But I will remember and I pray. 🙏

I will remember the people. The people that were lost. The people that were left. The people that served, that sacrificed. The people who made our lives better simply because they showed up!

That’s why I strive to live a life that leaves something good behind. I want people who cross my path, for a lifetime, a decade or an instant to say “My life was better because Missy was in it.” 😄

Because what we leave behind is the imprint we have on others. And whether that day comes today, tomorrow or decades from now, I hope that imprint remains…never erased from the memory of time.

BEHIND THE CURTAIN…

Running a fashion business while running a LIFE? Sometimes you’re spinning all the plates in your life wondering if there is a hidden camera somewhere. 📸 SMILE!

Fall is usually my favorite kind of crazy: Fashion Week, VIPreviews, new collections, back-to-school, a dining-room-turned-style-studio and a calendar that says GO, GO, GO. 💃

Then life happened. Griffin had a pet emergency, and suddenly business, family, home and all the things still needed tending…even while being exhausted and worried.

So we did what women do: handled what needed handling, put the pieces back in motion and keep going.

And WOW! 🤩 Last week’s Fall VIPreview reminded me exactly why I love this business. Support from women, laughing, connecting, trying on clothes and remembering that getting dressed can be FUN.
