𝚈𝚘𝚞𝚛 (𝚍𝚊𝚢)𝚍𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚖𝚜 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚟𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚍……just set that date when you’re ready to make it real.My date was June 9, 2014. After years of imagining myself living in my dream city (London) and traveling the world (frequently), that was the day I flew on a one-way journey overseas.No financial safety cushion, and no job waiting for me upon arrival—just a few hundred dollars to my name and a strong, relentless hunch that it was finally time to live out my those daydreams (which I still prefer to do with my eyes closed).Today, June 9, 2021, I’m in The Maldives. For work. I’m the first journalist in the *world* to check-in and cover a highly-anticipated luxury resort (Ritz-Carlton Maldives). Same goes for their fellow five-star neighbor (Patina) which I’ll check into this weekend.I couldn’t help but take inventory of how far I’ve come while gazing at the Maldivian sunrise. I’d envisioned this life—thinking I’d need to be rich to do so—while riding the bus to and from my Atlanta private school job pre-2014. And now I’m *here*. Through hard work and grit, sure, but also through opening myself up to the possibility that, YES, you CAN manifest some modified version of your dream life someday.I hope my story is a kind reminder to someone out there in limbo between their inner voice (telling you to take a scary leap) and their rational, risk-averse mind. Always bet on your inner voice. No matter how terrifying, give into it. Its job is to make your dream a reality, but it won’t work unless YOU make moves.////////////////////////////Happy 7th Dreamiversary to me.
