Rose forever 🌹🕊️ by @misty_steppe_

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to the sweetest angel on earth, my best friend in the world, Rose.

She fell into our lives so unexpectedly during the pandemic. We weren’t looking for a dog, but then we met this precious, sweet little 9-year-old pitty who needed a home. I made a promise to her that day to be her forever family.

Rose was a big reason why we chose to move to Washington. We wanted to show Rose trees, lakes, mountains. I got to spend the whole road trip with her. Just us in my car, listening to the playlist I made for her. And she sniffed every flower up the coast along the way. Rose’s favorite thing was to stop and smell flowers.

Rose was the kindest thing imaginable. She loved children, watching squirrels, chasing deer, couch cuddling with her favorite cat JonJon, visiting the butcher for treats, and getting pets and ham at the bakery. She knew a little Spanish and learned new tricks even in her old age.

Rose, I love you so much and the house in this world is going to feel so empty without you. My heart is shattered, but I’m so happy I got to be your forever family. You left us surrounded by friends, and you rested your head on my lap when you left. That was the sweetest gift you ever gave me. We promised to show you trees, lakes, and mountains. That’s why I chose to have your ashes spread along the Oregon coast. Now you’re free to smell all the flowers you want.

I’ll always love you, to the moon and back. Thank you for being my best friend 🕊️🌹 by @misty_steppe_
