You can now add a caption with every swipe on IG but I just wanted to do a quick post about my recent trip to the coast. I probably shouldn't, and instead package this better, but then I might end up not posting at all. Unacceptable.

Last week I visited the man-made island of Neeltje Jans, which exists only to construct the biggest construction of the Dutch Delta Works, The Oosterschelde Storm Surge Barrier. We kept it as a wind farm and, somehow, a nature reserve.

I wrote about the trip and the reason I went there extensively in my newsletter. It's honestly one of my better entries yet. I say that with modesty and certainty. You can find it through the link in my bio.

Additionally, I filmed a video there. I like the raw footage, it's one of my best filming yet, but I haven't had a chance to edit it yet. It'll probably take a while, because video has never been my forte. I hope to have it out by the end of the month though.

That being said, I have a wedding in Tuscany from the last weekend to edit and a lot of stuff to figure out as well. A lot of moving parts that probably don't belong in IG captions because who cares to read these anyway, still? We just scroll, scroll, scroll. And me I just stroll, stroll, stroll. Making all this work along the way.

How much of the world around us only exists because someone keeps maintaining it?

That’s the question I came home with after my latest trip to the coast.

I thought I was just going there to walk, take photos, and feel the air on my face again. But the Dutch coastline has a way of becoming about something bigger.

It’s not just beach and sea y'know. It’s sand, dunes, engineering, erosion, climate, culture, and a country constantly negotiating with the water.

Almost didn't post the second half of the Mexico trip although there are definitely some winners in there that I'd want to show off so here you go I hope you like them so if you do then hit the like button and maybe we can show the algorithm that image-only posts are not that bad after all thank you kindly for your consideration oh and I've been rebuilding my website so if you are curious what that means you can take a peek now and see some work in progress in real time because I am tinkering with it every day in the hopes to find out a way to describe who I am and what I do but so far I've not been super successful so until then I am nothing and nobody and that's completely fine too I quite enjoy not having a clear label to be honest because labels are overrated anyway. taken in Mexico by @mitchellens.ink

A couple of successes from the past few weeks. Been posting quite rigorously on my website too.

I basically revamped and reignited my 2021 writing project where I wrote a little piece every day. I called them Monologues, which sits nicely alongside my monthly newsletter Dialogue and reflects the one-dimensional character properly.

Those things are still true today and I needed a place to put some random thoughts that were a little more than a tweet but a little less than an essay. Click the link in my bio if you're interested. You'll find them.
