A few of you also know that I had an alter ego: Belinda De La Fantastica. In 2015 I did a research project with @tomokoamsterdam that combined Oskar Schlemmer with the campiness of drag. We had two shows. One in @clubchurch and one in @concertgebouw.

In Club Church in Amsterdam I performed in a dark and sweaty room full of gays. At concertgebouw, it was the usual theatre audience. Quite a stark difference. ;-)

The idea of Oskar Schlemmer still fascinates me.

The idea of the sticks wasnโ€™t something I came up with myself. I had seen a video on Youtube by I believe an Italian performer who used these sticks. I thought it was rather interesting and I wanted to take it further.

Somehow, for my feeling, this project never reached itโ€™s full potential, but I enjoyed the research. I had asked my friend @pimveulings to join me in the process. Both Pim and I love visual effects so in the studio we played around with fans, plastic, and flickering lights. These elements never made it to the final show.

The tacky trailer I made myself was part of Belindaโ€™s tacky visuals in order to attract a different kind of audience. I made it in 5 minutes, because this bitch was so busy. The cheapness of it made it only better.

Btw, I never stole something @debijenkorf. It was part of a monologue that was part of the show.

Throwback to 2004/2005.

Rehearsal footage of a production I did as an intern for Dansity Amsterdam that was led by @pieterderuit and @evajuliavillanueva. It was one of my first creations as a young student @kunsthogeschool when I was finishing up my last year of the Jazz-Show Musical Department which doesnโ€™t exist anymore unfortunately.

As a young student I loved the dance language of @william_forsythe_ and @connyjanssendanst. I never dared to audition for the Forsythe Company, but I did get to work at Conny Janssen Danst as I had two internships that same season of โ€˜04/โ€˜05.

Btw, the moment I tie my shoe laces is choreographed. I loved playing with funny moments like that.

Also, most Amsterdammers might recognize this studio. It is now where @bau_platform has their studios. by @mitchellvanrooij

What a privilege to present @korzotheater and two of our wonderful and current makers, @astridboons and @lea.ved, at @tanzmessenrw together with producer @gerardsangra and general director @jeliergemma!

Itโ€™s always very nourishing to talk about the future of dance with former colleagues and fellow (dance) artists, artistic directors, and dance curators. And in this day and age itโ€™s extremely important to cultivate these relations because more and more countries are on the brink of losing their funding for international co-productions and collaborations. This is very disconcerting! Dance has the ability to transcend people into a world of wonder, imagination, and empathy and we need more of that! Letโ€™s try to see each other as one and get rid of manmade borders and welcome a dance of unity. Will you join? taken in Dรผsseldorf, Germany by @mitchellvanrooij
