⭐Today’s Featured WINGMAN ⭐

We are excited to kick off this year’s WINGMAN features with returning WINGMAN Mitchell Wendland (@mitchster101)!

Mitchell works as a Client Advisor at Tiffany & Co., is a spin instructor at YEG Cycle, and is a retired CFL cheerleader with the Edmonton Elks (@goelkscheer). He is returning as a WINGMAN for another year to continue using his voice to advocate for those who may not be able to speak up for themselves.

Some of our WINGMEN brought meaningful items with them to their photo shoots, sharing pieces that represent their own stories and experiences. Mitchell brought a necklace with two special pendants. One, a salmon swimming upstream, was gifted to him by Olympian Clara Hughes at the start of his journey on Canada’s Ultimate Challenge and represents resilience against the odds. The second was gifted by his teammate Skylar and represents a bond that has stayed with him.

In his words: “I am always wanting to return as a WINGMAN, seeing the work that Wings does for the community is astounding, safe homes are so important. Getting to hear stories from the women who firsthand have been helped by Wings always reminds me to be brave and speak up for those who can’t or might not be in a safe enough environment to do so.”

Thanks to a generous matching gift from CanadaOne Auto, Waterloo Ford Lincoln, and Freedom Ford, all donations made to the 2026 WINGMAN Campaign will be matched up to $40,000! That means every gift made during WINGMAN goes twice as far to help provide safe housing, counselling, childcare, and critical supports for women and children rebuilding their lives after family violence.

WINGMAN runs throughout the month of September. Follow along as we introduce this year’s incredible WINGMEN, share their stories, and come together to make an even greater impact for families at Wings.

Hawks season has begun @edmriverhawks

The pride game is always more than just a theme night, it shows allyship in a space that doesn’t always have the most welcoming energy. Thank you @edmriverhawks for always keeping sports inclusive! 🏳️‍🌈
