After nearly four years, I’m finally sharing Kismet Stars (pt 1) a quiet little project made with friends post pandemic.

This piece is about intimate connection and the lasting imprint of love — the kind that lingers long after it’s gone. It’s a visual poem about a bond that once felt infinite, still echoing in the present. A reflection on how certain moments, certain people, leave their mark and how we hold space for what once was.

Today marks six months since we lost Goosel. Where did time go?

Losing a pet is often treated as a lesser kind of grief, something we’re expected to move through quickly, but the reality can be completely devastating. Our pets are there for us every day.

They witness us. They see us at our best and our worst. They are beside us through the ordinary moments and the unbearable ones.

We get to build our lives around one another to simply just exist together. It is just so incredibly magical how two souls able to connect and just be.

It’s been six months without her and I know in my heart that the pain of losing her will never completely disappear. Losing her the way we did, is a pain I could never wish upon anyone.

In honor of Goosel today, I’m sharing some poetry I’ve written while navigating grief. I hope it resonates with someone and helps them feel less alone.

Wherever you are in your grief, I hope you know there is no timeline and no right way to carry it.

Love you forever, my Goosel. You were such an incredible dog. I know I will save many more in your honor and give them the safety and future I wanted so desperately for you 💔

Today, on Samson’s Rainbow Bridge Day, we’re introducing Goose’s Promise. 🪽

Goose’s Promise is a new trainer-backed program at Samson’s Sanctuary created specifically for dogs living with immense fear.

This program was made possible in part by a generous grant from Dover’s Chair, which provided the seed funding to help us launch Goose’s Promise. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and for helping us create something specifically for dogs who are often overlooked because of the severity of their fear.

Now, as we begin welcoming dogs into Goose’s Promise, we are raising 5,000 to help us grow it.

Dogs selected for the program will be assessed by a professional trainer and given an individualized plan designed to help them build confidence, learn to feel safe, and move toward adoption at their own pace.

Many of these dogs come to us considered difficult or even unadoptable because of the severity of their fear. But being deeply afraid doesn’t mean a dog is incapable of coming out of it.

That’s what Goose taught us.

We watched a dog who had every reason to be afraid begin to find courage, curiosity, and trust. Goose showed us what can happen when a scared dog is given time, patience, consistency, and the right support.

Goose’s Promise is about giving more dogs that chance.

We’re now looking for committed foster homes to join the program, especially people who have experience with fearful dogs or who are genuinely interested in learning and participating in their foster dog’s training.

You do not need to be a trainer. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a professional trainer and the Samson’s Sanctuary team.

Introducing Fifi! 😍✨

Short for Te Fiti (Moana fans anyone?) we saw this sweet 11 years young angel at risk for euthanasia and knew we had to help restore her heart 🥹

Fifi was found as a stray with a huge ulcerated mass on her head and some funky teeth. We found out about her the day she was found and waited anxiously for her 3 day hold to be up so we could go save her. Yes, we were supposed to be on domestic intake freeze, but how could we say no to her sweet face? 😭

FiFi will likely need several procedures for her head and dental, so she will be in medical foster until she is healthy enough to be adopted. Even though she is in pain and has been through so much she is sooo sweet and LIVELY! If we could let her she would run around all day. 😍

Please help us pay her medical bills so we can continue to rescue more dogs! So far her first visit was $466 and there will be plenty more to come! 🙏

On March 20th, 2026 at 5:27 PM, we said goodbye to Goosel.

Goosel came from a horrific hoarding situation, the same one as Momo’s mom and dad, where she lived among 75+ other dogs. For most of her life, she knew nothing but fear. The only time she truly got a break was when she came to the States—where she finally experienced her first home, with her first and only family.

Goose was silly, kind, and incredibly emotionally intelligent. She was truly a special dog. The world feels smaller and empty without her.

I will never forget the sound of her little pitter-patter footsteps, or how excited she got when she saw the leash. I’ll always remember her jumps, her joy, her curiosity, and her excitement for this new world.

One of my favorite memories is of her sticking her head out the car window during sunset—taking everything in, completely alive, completely present, excited for whatever came next. She loved car rides. She loved waking up each day. She loved being part of this world. She was so special.

Every day without her breaks my heart.

I believed in her so deeply. I knew how incredible she was going to be once she fully allowed herself to trust. I wanted so badly to see that version of her—to see her fully healed. I’m devastated I won’t get to.

Her beauty and spirit have imprinted on me, and on everyone who met her. She was truly something rare.

Her name, Goosel, means “marbles” in Korean—small, luminous, and full of light.
She is forever glistening, like the most beautiful marbles.

I love you forever, my Goosel angel.

thirty years around the sun ☀️ late post but I am immensely full of love, joy and excitement entering this new era. I feel so excited to see what is to come and this new journey I am on 💕 grateful for those in my life who I have learned from immensely and forever championing me. For the first time ever I felt like the coolest girl in the world. Little me is so proud of who I am today and that’s definitely because of those around me radiating their beautiful energy. I fostered Enchi for an entire year through @samsonssanctuary , during this year I learned a lot of things from her. I learned how blindness, unconditional love will always persevere and how even when someone can go through their worst like being abused and surviving heart worms due to neglect. They can still give so much kindness, love and compassion showing that sincerity will always win.

Enchi went through a lot of life with me, from evacuating during the LA fires to moving out my apartment and moving into another one. I was lucky to have Enchi through it all. She went to multiple film sets and got to be apart of movies and community, most notably @truebadourmovie Enchi is forever a part of the Trüebadogs.

Enchi is an incredible and so sweet dog, I am honored to have fostered her and been a part of her journey. She is now adopted by wonderful parents @russianprof @peak_ale & sissy @roxstarfoxyroxy who get to love her unconditionally.

Many people have asked me how I can foster and give up a dog — I’ve come to realize that just because it breaks your heart doesn’t mean you don’t do it. At the end of the day, goodbye is the goal even if it hurts to see them go. Being able to fostered has rewarded me much more than this heartbreak will last. I’ve been able to teach a scared dog that being loved is beautiful, thrilling and safe. I’ve been able to open my home to multiple dogs who needed a safe place to land so they can find their perfect family. I got to save a life at the end of the day and I’ll never forget that. For every Enchi, there’s more doggies that are able to go to shelters or find some safe haven because I’ve been able to open my home to her.

Thank you Enchi for all the wonderful memories we’ve had together. I truly loved every moment I got to share with you. You are so love by me, my family and my community — we are forever rooting for you.

Meet Moose 🫎 • the last 24 hours have been a whirlwind, but we are grateful to be able to add Moose to our Samson’s family. This little guy was found in the rain, infested with fleas, exhausted and limping. We are so grateful to have been able to step in to help this little one. 🐾

Our team immediately jumped into action by getting him set up at the vet, vaccinated, on preventions, and gave him a much needed flea bath where 100+ fleas came off him. Poor boy was so uncomfortable, but as soon as he was cleaned up and fed - his tail was wagging and he was asking for pets. He has truly been the most gentle, sweet little guy. You can tell he’s so grateful to receive love for maybe the first time in his life. 🫶

Moose is around 3 years old, 20 lbs (but could gain a few) and a spaniel mix. The vet said his limp (which is already getting better) could indicate he was hurt either by being hit by a car or while trying to make shelter in the rain. 😢

Moose has no microchip and is not neutered. We’ve posted everywhere to see if he has a family looking for him- but sadly we think he was dumped. He was covered in poop, bugs and gunk and too skinny. The vet thinks he’s been out alone in the streets for some time now. 💔

Moose is now in the best foster home decompressing and starting his healing journey. Huge shout out to @ltrots3 for taking the call and saying YES to Moose, no questions asked. Fostering saves lives!

We will soon be accepting applications to adopt Moose. Please keep in mind, we will be letting him decompress and get all the medical care he needs (including neutering) while we see if anyone comes forward for him- which sadly we don’t anticipate. Once he’s ready, Moose is going to be the best addition to any family. 💕

It brings me with such a heavy heart to share this unfortunate news. My sweet girl Kiki needs life-saving care.

Kiki has been battling epilepsy since 2022, and her vet suspects a brain tumor due to pupil dilation. In order to get her a diagnosis, I’m raising funds to pay for her CT scan and begin treatment so she can get the care she deserves. Without a proper diagnosis, we are unable to keep her seizures under control. As time progresses, she will have more seizures which can ultimately lead to the unthinkable.

Kiki has been by my side through everything and she’s only seven, full of love, and has so much life left to live. She has a brother and a sister who she loves so dearly.

If you are in a spot to be able to help financially, it would mean the absolute world. Any donation or even sharing this means so much to us 💕
