Part 1 - drive with me to the base of Scafell Pike, Wasdale in the Lake District. A teeny tiny narrow country road full of dips, bends and twists all beside the deepest lake, Wastwater, and the majestic screes, Yewbarrow, Great Gable and Lingmell all visible in the distance. A gorgeous scenic drive, though in the peak of summer it can become a bit bonkers! 🚙🚘🚗
I did try speeding up the video to get it all in one, but even I felt car sick watching it 😅

Thank you to Sharon @a_story_of_home @cumbrialifemag for including us in her fantastic feature about holiday accommodation in the Lake District, all the properties having a nod to being eco friendly, whether that’s maximising natural light, using natural products, bringing the outside in through colour or like us, here at MV, using recycled pieces and repurposed furniture, so our table and chairs haven’t been added to the 22 million pieces of furniture ending up in landfill !!
Happy our little cottage, in Ravenglass, between the fells and the sea is doing her little bit. 🌊⛰🪑🌊⛰🪑

Our Sunday morning at Mite View, getting the cottage spick and span for the next guests followed by a wander around the village and snacks and cuppas at The Turntable cafe @rersteam. All done until next week, then I’ll do it all again.. good job I like cleaning isn’t it? 😂

It’s wet and wild in West Cumbria today, but it’s cosy and calm inside the cottage. This weekend’s guests arrived and I’ve had a message to say how they appreciated the welcome basket, we like to provide supplies to make a cuppa, sweet treats and fresh bread and butter, deffo well deserved if your journey here brought you via Hardknott pass, with its sweeping turn and hairpin bends, one of the steepest roads in England and most definitely not for the faint hearted! 😵‍💫

A long time! That’s how long it took. When we started this renovation, our plan went out of the window in the first week.. lockdown happened, throwing a very large spanner in the works, cost of materials, real life, going to work, lack of motivation, injuries, boredom, other projects and no money all added months, then years to the project. Here, in Instaland, I watched other building projects and ventures happen in a matter of weeks, some even in the click of the fingers 😂 this actually made me feel, a bit de-moralised and useless, If I’m honest, because I know we worked our little socks off and it still took foreverrrrrrr. We got there and now when I’m putting flowers in a vase, plumping the cushions for our guests, and I read the lovely reviews, i know that the last FOUR years of graft were worth it!

Do you think Father Christmas will find our guests? The cottage has had some festive touches, ready for Amber and her friend coming. We’ve kept it simple, added a few homely cosy comforts for you to enjoy after a blustery coastal walk, here in Ravenglass, or a stomp up the local Lakeland fells. Mince pies, walnuts, games and hot water bottles for you to enjoy during your winter stay.

Changeover day at the cottage today, so I’ve been getting it ready for Gemma, Katie and their furry friend 🐾 I’ve been a bit quiet, because guess what… we’ve actually been on holiday! We promised ourselves when we finally completed the cottage, we would have a well deserved holiday, our first one since 2018!! To say holiday anxiety levels were higher than holiday excitment was an understatement!! 😵‍💫 Don’t you wait as long as us to book your next breakaway, book today for an autumnal treat, relax and explore the Cumbrian coast before we all get a little bit Christmas crazy! Fancy a few days away in the lake district’s only coastal village Ravenglass? August is done and dusted! It’s been a very wet summer here in Cumbria and it’s been the first month of our holiday cottage. It’s been hard work, keeping up with changeover days as well as the day job. We are still learning what works and what doesn’t, the coffee machine in the bedroom for lazy mornings is popular, not so good is when I forget the clean bedding! September, the month of autumnal styling, cosy blankets and lists! 🍂

Mite view Cottage, spick and span again for today’s guests. Changeover days are hard work, but I enjoy getting the cottage ready, and by adding some personal touches of flowers and a welcome basket to greet them when they open the door. All the goodies to make a cuppa and a snack before you head out to explore the Cumbrian coast. Upstairs reel next time, I forgot and I didn’t want to walk on my freshly mopped floor. 😂
