We recently conlcuded the American Express & Resy “Summer Seat” event. An occasion in which Chef Diana Dávila was selected as 1 of 3 restaurants in America to redesign the patio of the Antojería and create an immersive experience in collaboration with an Artist of her choice, Ben Giska. The event took place in August and was open to Amex Gold card members only.

We are now re-opening the experience for one night!

The inspiration behind our design centers around the Aztec Teōtl: Xochipilli. One whose name roughly translates to “Flower Price”

John (@johncaleb.pendleton) and his team: @mssummerflowers, @vintageroyalty, and @byewilfredo will return for a new iteration of their floral installation. 🌺

DJ: Regina Martinez who will be playing records for us OCT. 6th with surprise guests! 🎶

Using the base of the Xochipilli statue as inspiration Artist/Designer/Fabricator/DJ Jacob Polhill (@jacob_polhill) built a one-of-a-kind DJ booth.

“Flower Speaker” made by @bg_____________________ using repurposed gramophone bells paired with Gallo Acoustics A’Diva Speakers.

OG: Salvador Vega (@salvador.vega.359126). 1 of 6 Artists who painted stools for the bartop.

Xochipilli is the divine life force associated with the energies of art, music, dance, vegetation, fertility, sexuality, summer, feasting, flowers, playfulness, and sacred plants. Often paired with his female counterpart: Xochiquetzal, the patroness of artisans, weavers, embroiderers, and painters…they represent the pleasures of life. Together they culminate into layered, multicultural, communal celebrations of life. This Comfort Station tradition now in its 13th cycle is hosted each year by Comfort Station emeritus board member @jasonhammel of Lula Cafe.

Joining Hammel this year are some of our community’s most exciting chefs: Diana Dávila (@mitocaya), Joe Frillman (@daisieschicago), Ethan Pikas (@cellardoorprovisions), Matthias Merges (@billysundaychicago), and Zeeshan Shah & Yoshi Yamada (@superkhana).

This dream team of local culinary talent will come together for one night to collaborate on a five-course feast in support of Comfort Station. Your ticket purchase includes a cocktail hour, 5-course meal, wine pairings for each course, and all service fees.

Mi Tocaya’s OG🫶🏼 The head of our beverage program and so much more. The one one only, Yadi. Love you💋💋

Her approach is both technical and intuitive. She values precision, relying on tools like a scale to ensure consistency, while also leaning into more tactile elements like blending and texture. Outside of work, she is intentional about staying inspired. She spends time going to the movies, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and being around friends, all of which feed directly back into her work. For Yadi, inspiration is not separate from her day-to-day life, it is embedded in it. What ultimately defines her is her ability to find joy in small moments and carry that into everything she does. If you have visited Mi Tocaya in the last couple years, chances are that you have met Kev, our FOH manager. Here is a special shout out to the one & only. Te adoramos!

At 28, first-generation with roots in Durango and El Salvador, he grew up as the oldest of four, figuring things out in real time for himself and his family. That sense of responsibility shows up in how he works, but it is balanced by something else entirely.

He is deeply shaped by music and pop culture, pulling inspiration from artists like Lady Gaga and David Bowie, people who built identities on their own terms and carried that through the mainstream. He operates with a similar instinct.
Restless in a productive way, always looking for what is next, whether that is in his career or just in how he moves through a day. There is a clear need for both connection and distance.
