There’s a Beginners course if you just want to get a taste of pottery, a Beginner Wheel course if you want to focus on the wheel, and then dedicated Intermediate and Advanced levels to take your practice further. 🌀

We’ve also separated out the Wheel and Handbuilding paths, so you can choose what you want to spend more time exploring…

Hi, I’m Kosha 🤍

I started Mitti in 2021, but my relationship with clay goes back about 6 years now
and honestly, I didn’t really know what I was building when I began

I just knew I wanted to keep showing up, working with my hands, and staying close to something that felt grounding

Somewhere along the way, Mitti became a space that holds not just my work, but so many people, stories, and moments 🫶🏽

It’s still a little imperfect, a little all over the place on some days
but it’s mine, and it means a lot to me

There are some students who become a part of your story in ways you never quite expect. Saanya is one of them. 🤍

She first came to Mitti in 2023 as a student, just beginning to find her way with clay. Three years later, watching her walk into the studio as a tutor, with students of her own, her own way of explaining things, her own voice and her own relationship with clay, has been one of those quietly special moments that makes me realise just how much can change in a few years.

I have watched Saanya grow as a potter, but more importantly, I have watched her grow into herself. And seeing her teach has been such a joy. She brings so much patience, positivity and warmth into the studio. Anyone who has learned from her will tell you that she is quite literally a ray of sunshine. She has this wonderful ability to make people feel comfortable, encouraged and excited to keep trying.

And then there is the fact that she is one of my closest friends, which makes this whole thing even more special to me. I get to watch my friend grow, make, teach, figure things out and build her own path, every single day. And honestly, what more could I ask for?

I hired Saanya because I believe in her, not just as a potter or a teacher, but as a person. I hope her time at Mitti gives her the opportunity to experiment, learn, make mistakes, find her voice and take her practice places she hasn’t even imagined yet. And someday, I hope I get to walk into a space that she has built for herself, filled with her work, her students and her way of seeing the world.

For now, I am just incredibly happy that the student who walked into Mitti in 2023 is now standing beside me, teaching in the very same space.

Some full circles are really beautiful. 🫶🏼

Ishita 🤍

One of our youngest students, and quite possibly one of the brightest little rays of sunshine to walk into Mitti.

That smile you see here? 24/7. I genuinely don’t think I have ever seen Ishita without it. She brought that same infectious happiness with her every single time she came to the studio, and I absolutely loved having her around.

But what I loved even more was the way she approached pottery. With so much positivity, curiosity and openness. Always ready to experiment, always hungry to learn and, most importantly, always so receptive to feedback and new ideas. She has been such a joy to teach, and watching her grow through her Beginner’s Course has been incredibly special.

The cutest, prettiest, brightest little student. 🥹🤍

Ishita, I’m going to miss having you around the studio! Wishing you the very, very best as you head off to university and begin this next chapter. I know you’re going to do amazing things.

And whenever you’re back, you know where to find us. I can’t wait to have you back at Mitti. 🫶🏼

Anmol’s beginner pottery journey, all wrapped up 🤎

From her first attempts at the wheel to these wonderfully wonky, colourful, completely Anmol pieces… it’s been so lovely watching her find her way with clay.

A little bit of patience, a lot of experimenting, and plenty of clay under the fingernails later… she’s officially graduated 🥹✨

So proud of you, Anmol. Keep making whimsically beautiful things. They’re the best kind. 🫶🏼

Come throw with me today 🤎

The days when I don’t have students are very special to me. Not because I don’t love teaching… I absolutely adore my students and everything that comes with it.

But I really need these days too.

A day with just me, myself, the wheel and the clay. No questions to answer, no doubts to solve, no one waiting for the next step. Just me and clay having that quiet little conversation. 🏺

I think of Mondays as my reset days. I teach six days a week, so this one day helps me come back to myself… to re-centre, experiment, make mistakes, try things, and just create.

Which is also why I LOVE Mondays. 😂

While everyone else is like, “Oh god, tomorrow is Monday…” I’m like, hell yeah, it’s Monday! Because I get to be at Mitti, with my music, beautiful lighting, my wheel, my clay and my little safe haven.

And honestly… I’m happiest here. 🤎

@kap_ish Intermediate Wheel course was all about getting comfortable with the basics… cylinders, bowls, centering, and most importantly, learning to make the wheel work for you.

And looking at this collection, the practice has definitely paid off. The forms are clean, the proportions are getting more consistent, and there’s a lovely sense of control across the pieces.

One thing I particularly like about this collection is how cohesive it feels. Instead of jumping from glaze to glaze, Kapish chose a small palette and stayed with it, allowing the forms and the subtle variations in the glaze to work together. The result is a collection that actually looks like a collection.

He’s now continuing with membership at Mitti Space, spending more time on the wheel and working on that very unglamorous but very important part of pottery… muscle memory. More centering, more throwing, more trimming, more making. And slowly, the hands start remembering what the brain has been trying to teach them. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing where all that wheel time takes these forms next.

The Art of Nerikomi. 🤍✨

One of my favourite moments in every Nerikomi class isn’t when the piece is finished…

It’s this one.

When the slab is rolled between layers of fabric, the cloth quietly collects an impression of the coloured clay. A temporary painting that exists for just a little while before it’s washed away.

The clay becomes the final piece.

The fabric becomes the memory.

And then comes the reveal…

Every single time there’s a pause, followed by smiles, laughter, and usually someone saying, “Wait… what?!” 😊

That tiny moment of surprise never gets old.

Nerikomi can become incredibly complex if you choose to dive deep into it. But at its heart, it’s simply the joy of playing with coloured clay. And that’s exactly why we teach it in our beginner course too. Because everyone deserves to experience that little gasp of wonder.

This is the beginning of a photo series documenting our students and these fleeting fabric impressions… beautiful moments that disappear, but thankfully can still be photographed. ❤️

Some students leave behind beautiful pots… and some leave behind beautiful conversations. @kasturiratanverma gave us both. 🤍

Being a teacher herself, she came into the studio with endless curiosity. She was always asking questions, wanting to understand the why behind every technique, and that made teaching her such a joy.

Now… let’s talk about the wheel. 😄

It definitely tested her patience. There were moments of frustration, moments of wanting to give up, and I recently smiled reading her own post about wondering how she even managed to get through it.

But that’s exactly what I’m so proud of.

She stayed.

She kept showing up.

She kept trying.

And somewhere along the way, the moment she gave herself permission to fail instead of expecting perfection, everything started to click. That’s the funny thing about pottery… sometimes the less you try to control it, the better it becomes.

While she grew on the wheel, I think it’s safe to say that handbuilding completely stole her heart. Watching her work with slabs and seeing the beautiful pieces she created over these three months was an absolute delight.

Kasturi… thank you for your curiosity, your patience, and for trusting the process even on the difficult days. It was such a pleasure having you at Mitti Space, and I already can’t wait to have you back in the studio very soon. ❤️

Some journeys become extra special because they’re shared… ❤️

Watching @davemeghna and @aditiiidave walk into the studio together every week has been one of those joys.

From complete beginners to confidently throwing on the wheel, they’ve now completed both their Beginner and Intermediate Wheel courses… and these are the beautiful pieces they created along the way. 🌿✨

Over the months, they explored carving, sgraffito, inlay, underglaze painting, and experimented with so many different glaze combinations. Every firing was a surprise, every piece a little lesson, and every success made them even more excited for the next one.

What I loved most wasn’t just the pottery… it was watching a mother and daughter learn together. They constantly encouraged each other, exchanged ideas, celebrated each other’s wins, and laughed through the little mishaps that pottery inevitably brings. Their energy made every class lighter and happier. 🤍

As Aditi heads off to university and begins an exciting new chapter, her time at the studio takes a little pause… and we’ll be looking forward to welcoming her back whenever she’s home. 🥹

And as for Meghna… I know pottery is going to remain a part of her life. I’m excited to see all the beautiful things she continues to create and where this creative journey takes her. ✨

Thank you both for filling the studio with warmth, curiosity, and laughter. I’m incredibly proud of everything you’ve made, but even more grateful to have been a small part of your pottery journey. Here’s to many more beautiful pots… and even more beautiful memories. 🫶🏽🤍
