Its that time a year again! As we close out 2025, a year that presented unprecedented challenges for the Haitian people both in Haiti and the US, we want to take a moment to invite you all to stand in solidarity with us by helping to uphold one of our foundational traditions of ringing in the New Year with a hot bowl of soup joumou! MIWA is a proud konbitè and supporter of the Sonje Ayiti organization @sonjeayiti_organization led by Gabrielle Aurelle who is doing the incredible work of feeding Haitians in the north on Jan 1st. I cried. And this was also one of the most moving live performances of music I’ve ever seen. Granted, I did think about how much I miss my grandma for an hour and a half prior.

The more I explore, the more Philly opens up for me. What preceded this moment, was a Haitian flag day celebration Talie and Lunise also hosted. I’m excited to pull this thread.

MIWA by Natalie and Lunise Cerin was something else and I’m grateful to got to experience it.
