Our 2026 Film Festival voting is in full swing! The student film with the most votes by October 21st, 2026 will take home the grand prize at our Study Abroad Film Festival in Chicago. Does Latrell have your vote? 🏆

💭 “The Sun Rises” is an eight-minute poetic short that turns a trip through Paris into a grand visual opera. The film is an amalgam of French history, experimental sound, and lyrical narration following exactly the architecture of the Ballet Royal de la Nuit itself. Follow a boy’s perspective as the city changes him, going from awe and distraction to becoming his own kind of sun king.

Meet your peer adviser, Islynn N!

Islynn is a psychological sciences and political science major who studied abroad in Rennes, France. She said her favorite memory is, “taking the train to Saint Malo beach.”

Her advice for students: “Do it even if it is scary or requires stepping out of your comfort zone. Allie is a journalism and international studies major who studied abroad in South Korea and France. She said her favorite memory is, “watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle on one of my first nights [in Paris].”

This summer, students traveled to Chiang Mai, Thailand, for a firsthand look at elephant conservation.
