it was about time to spruce up the ol’ reel…

It’s pretty rad that I get to do cool things with cool people who inexplicably continue to trust my weird brain 🫠

✍🏼✨

It has been exactly 15 weeks since I did the WIP of my show - Proud Mary - at @playhouseeast and I am really touched by the anonymous feedback I’ve received from those who came. To feel seen & represented was far from a given for a great majority of my life, and to know I might have said a small something that speaks to the silent shame of being “other” whilst maybe providing a chuckle or two…well that’s more than I could have hoped for 🙏🏼

Umma (엄마) will come alive one more time at @voilafest in exactly 6 weeks 🎭 #

Unsure of whether or not Mary will live beyond that but she’ll try to make you proud at least this one more time 🤗

🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵

what a ride…

RIKISHI means ‘man of strength’ in Japanese, and these men indeed had strength NOT just in body but also in humour and heart ♥️

what a privilege to witness it all alongside a super sensational team of vigour, endurance, and silliness 🤪

so unbelievably proud of @matt.harris._ for putting together a gorgeous marriage of traditional culture with entertaining theatricality, and wonderfully grateful he trusted me to steer the ship as RezDez ✌🏼

my heart is full of Tokyo Nights ♥️

…and it’s not everyday you get thrown in the air by humongous Japanese men 🫠

utter nonsense in the french riviera.

when working on a project during a heatwave, being on a stunning french beach really helps. definitely would recommend to a friend.

🎭 🚧 ✅

I’ve had this show in my head and my heart for years…and now it’s finally out there 👐🏼

It may be called a one-woman show, but it was a village of incredulously talented, hilarious, generous, brilliant people who made this possible 🌟

Writing, re-writing, getting paralysed, writing again, making props, discovering characters, discovering bits, crying with laughter, crying with vulnerability, and everything in between…what a process it’s been 🫯

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to come out to see my silly little ideas realised ♥️ And thank you to @playhouseeast for seeing something in my blurb and giving me a place to put all of this out there 🙏🏼

I am still digesting the entire experience...🤲🏼

But I can tell you that Mary will return again…

THE WIP 2026 is officially underway.

Last night we opened the festival with Sho-Sha, Sandra and Proud Mary. Three full-house performances and standing ovations kicking off a month of new writing, rehearsed readings, works-in-progress and shows finding their shape in front of an audience.

We’ve got an incredible line-up ahead of us, with some performances already close to selling out. If there’s something you’d like to see, we’d recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Newsletter subscribers also receive regular ticket offers throughout the festival, along with access to a limited number of places on our masterclasses with industry professionals.

You can sign up via the link in our bio.

And as always, join us downstairs @cafe_hebe before or after the show for a drink and a chance to meet artists, audiences and fellow theatre-makers. taken in Playhouse East by @mj.lee.creates
