My favorite and best photos I’ve ever taken were of my Nana & PopPop. My heart is heavy right now. But I’m at peace knowing that you are not only with God but with the love of your life and your wonderful daughter, my mother. I was truly blessed to come from these amazing people. Fannie Lee Hendryx was the kindest, most loving woman I’ve ever known. And the best grandmother. Going to miss all the precious moments and time we spent together. I’m definitely going to miss that smile and those special grandmother prayers. I’m happy I got to spend one more birthday with you. She definitely has a seat next to God. Cali MJ is a happier MJ. I’m bringing Cali MJ back to the East Coast. Shout out to my crazy mama. I got to honor her at one of her favorite places with her favorite team. The team that bonded us. It’s only right the @dodgers win it all this year. 💙

I’m incredibly proud of these young men.

I’ve known all of them since they were just kids. It started with hanging out at my little cousin Quayd’s house, playing on his basketball court, or playing with him on his youth football teams at Green Acres. I was the guy behind the camera, taking photos and filming highlights through football, basketball, and track season.

One tradition that stuck was Popeyes after every win. It actually started because I used to give Quayd money for every touchdown or forced turnover. He was hurting my pockets, so he came up with a better idea, Popeyes instead. Then Jordan joined in, and by high school Solomon and Jimmy became part of it too. That’s how the “Popeyes Gang” was born.

I even promised them I’d make a brisket if they made the state championship their senior year. They came up just a field goal short… but I still might have to make that brisket one day.

It’s meant a lot that they always wanted me there. Football games, basketball games, track meets, signing days, prom, graduation… whatever the event was, I did everything I could to be there.

These might be the last photos I take of them… at least until college graduation. After that, I’m charging them because they’ll all have jobs, and a few of them might even be in the NFL.

All jokes aside, it’s been an honor to document their journey from boys to young men. That’s one of the greatest gifts photography has given me. Years from now, they’ll be able to look back on these moments and remember exactly where it all started.

I hope they always know I’ll have their backs, no matter where life takes them.
