I’ve been holding back on this since the summer; a decision mostly driven by fear and perfectionism. But, finally, my first book “Coffee Rest Rituals” is available for pre-order. The premise is simple: What if coffee becomes your rest ritual?

Take a look. Link in bio and below.

Now available “Tinycup Coffee Rest Rituals” E-Book.

Y’all know I love roasting coffee. So, I did a thing… I founded Tinycup Coffee (@tinycup.coffee). As an act of self-love, -determination, and -liberation (and hopefully as a small contribution to yours).

For almost a decade, coffee roasting has been a personal source of rest, restoration, and resistance. Took me 6 months to figure out what it look like to share that experience with the world beyond videos on Instagram. I thought about the resting and healing work I’ve been doing since I left corporate. I’m thinking especially about those of you who are searching for ways to feel more rested in 2024!

My aim to enrich the coffee-drinking experience is rooted in a desire to contribute to the preservation and elevation of the traditions and stories of indigenous coffee communities around the globe.

That said, Tinycup is home-based coffee roasting company that helps everyday people experience coffee as a personally restorative ritual through small-batch, pan-roasted coffee traditions that honor the Horn of Africa and the Caribbean.

** Roasting every Monday & Thursday **

“Do you not see that Allah causes the night to enter into the day and causes the day to enter into the night, and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for an appointed term, and that Allah is All-Aware of what you do?”

I experience panic attacks fairly regularly. I used to believe that panic attacks were dramatic episodes of disorientation, physical imbalance and looking for a corner to hide in like in the movies; true and valid for some. But the more I understand what panic attacks are—intense anxiety that leads to a spectrum of cognitive, emotional and physical symptoms—the better I recognized how they manifest in my life: episodes of shallow breathing, tight chest, long-lasting worry, feelings of shame and sadness, etc.

I’m having one today. I’ve learned to do a couple things in response… maybe they’ll help you if experience them too.

💞 I talk to loved ones or (if I don’t feel like talking) I surround myself with those who love me and let them love on me 🥰. I deserve access to good love.

🚰 I drink more water. As a coffee lover whose founded a coffee company (@tinycup.coffee) I have to practice discipline as well as give myself permission to step away from my beloved ☕️—if only for a bit—to check my water intake and hold myself accountable for what my body needs; what I haven’t been giving it. I deserve access to second chance chances.

☕️ I make coffee for myself. This might seem counterintuitive, but coffee brings me joy. I’ve spent the past 10 years transforming my relationship with coffee from a morning routine to a ritual of rest — ⛽️ 👉🏽✨. Carving out some time to roast, brew, and serve myself coffee in my favorite tiny cup is an act of self-love and an act of resistance to the the grind that precipitated the panic attack in the first place 😒. I deserve access to healthy choices.

We deserve access to good love, healthy choices and second chances.

stand by a window this morning.
rest your eyes every so often.
take a deep breath, another.
feel the sun on your cheek.
dream of your peace.
sip your ☕️ slowly.
hug your body.
there, there.

you deserve rest.

Restorative practices help us to heal. They sustain our commitment to choosing ourselves over what we can produce. Roasting coffee has been my restorative practice for nearly a decade, helping me to resist corporate grind culture. Now, I teach others how to Roast & Rest. I invite you to carve out a little more space for rest with your morning cup.

Our roasts, your ritual. @tinycup.coffee
