In France vultures were always found where there is livestock so in the mountain regions like here in Baronnies where you can find huge herds of sheep or goat you could find vultures in huge numbers. Funny enough European laws were a big challenge when reintroducing vultures because they would prohibit farmers to dedicate their deceased animals to vultures and other scavengers. A lorry had to come collect dead bodies and drive them to a crematory. Thanks to vulture lovers like @vautoursenbaronnies today it is possible again for farmers to give dead animals away to the vultures. Christian and his colleagues come and fetch them to take them to a place that by EU law is considered sanitary enough. In this video you can see an impressive number of griffon and some cinerous vultures summon to feast on dead sheep that Christian had just collected. Pretty amazing, isn’t it? For all who are interested our film is on air again these days on Arte @arte.tv @artefr on „GEO Reportage“ and online. Thanks to my amazing colleague Felix Greif @fixifexi behind the camera and to Pascal Orabi from @lpo_officiel ❤️🇫🇷 #vulturesofinstagram #vulture #vultures #vautours #vautoursenbaronnies #griffonvulture #gänsegeier #mönchsgeier #georeportage #geo #arte #documentary #nature #baronniesprovençales #baronnies #france #dromeprovencale #geier taken in Saint-May by @mjay267
