Woodturning is so fun, addictive, mediative, challenging, and rewarding. Let’s make some shavings!

POSTS STORIES REELS

My latest piece and my submission for the instagram collaboration. I was paired up with @mjcwoodturning for this swap and I’m thrilled with the results AND the piece I’ll be receiving in return. I didn’t measure it, so I don’t know the exact dimensions. It is a cherry body with maple legs. The body is turned, textured, and dry brushed with acrylic paint. The legs and handle are maple, dyed with transit dye, and finished with satin spray lacquer. Original piece I was sent in the last pic. by @mjcwoodturning

This is my 2026 IG Woodturners Collaboration Challenge with Rebecca DeGroot @rebecca_degroot. You can see Rebecca’s original hollow form in the last photo.
The challenge is to take what is given you by another artist and create whatever inspires you and then give it back to the original artist.
Rebecca creates amazing pieces and loves Halloween, so I created a bat 🦇 for her. Various wood species, turned and carved, pyrography, black wax finish for the wings and black India ink for the body.

My latest selection at Second Street Gallery, Bandon, OR. My husband and I tease that it keeps me busy and off the streets. 😂 by @mjcwoodturning

Sold to a lovely woman in Chicago! ❤️ The beautiful reds and oranges of this carob bowl are amazing. by @mjcwoodturning

This is Penny. She received her fancy new yarn 🧶 bowl by yours truly. Penny and I met in the waiting room at UC Irvine Medical Center while both of our sisters were having knee replacement surgery. Penny was knitting and I asked for her feedback on yarn bowls and showed her a picture of this one that I had created for a local yarn shop. She loved it! When I returned home, it hadn’t sold yet, so I figured it was meant for her. ❤️ by @mjcwoodturning

My piece was chosen for the daily cover of WOW (World of Woodturners) by Michael Anderson @ulmus.woodturning. I am so excited and so incredibly honored. Thank you Michael! by @mjcwoodturning

Recently created for an AAW box exchange. The wood is sycamore painted black and then encased in natural cane. Inside the box are gold accents. It is 8” high by 10” wide. The recipient was Karl Hansen @gibbsartwood who creates the most exquisite basket illusion boxes so I thought he might enjoy a box that looks like a Chinese lantern. 😊 by @mjcwoodturning

Bowls for Christina and Jake - two ring bowls because they just got engaged and one big black walnut bowl because they bought their first home. Made with love. ❤️ by @mjcwoodturning

My latest batch of goodies freshly oiled. I realized I hadn’t posted in a while because we were traveling in our RV and then bought a new house in Oregon. My new lathe room was built by my wonderful husband Bruce and now I am back in the shop! Yay! by @mjcwoodturning
