As a Cultural Ambassador and titleholder, the struggle is real.
The challenges are endless, but staying true to your purpose is key.

Here’s another truth: as a believer, I understand the kind of attention LiGHT attracts—it draws every kind. But it’s my responsibility to discern what to allow close. And by God’s grace, I was never under pressure to perform, even though the journey hasn’t been easy.

I didn’t just want a sash—I wanted meaningful change, impactful relationships, and a foundation to build on for the long term. So I set out. And to be honest, it’s been tough. But consistency pays. Thanks to my pastor @alexandervictor.pav who has instilled this in me. I am grateful, sir.

To Hilda: @hildabaci
“There’s potential in all you’ve shared… Build with excellence, and let your results speak for you. Popularity is temporary, but impact lasts longer.”
Those were your words after listening to me.

Thank you for your encouragement. Hearing you re-echo the importance of consistency was a major reminder for me. I’m glad you’re looking forward to seeing growth in this space, and by God’s grace, you’ll be proud you invested here.

And yes, we look forward to seeing you at the Leboku International New Yam Festival very soon. You’re already pronouncing the words correctly—next up: finding the perfect native name 😅

I’m grateful for new beginnings and future successes.

Thank you to my elders—Miss Leboku 2021 @the_hyacintha and @darkrobert_17 Mr. Leboku 2017—for their support and encouragement. Let’s do more for our own.

Leboku begins in a few days.
Wishing all Ugep sons and daughters a prosperous New Yam celebration.

With much love & many thanks,
Your King,

Hello Fam,
August was indeed a packed month.
It’s one month already!

First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my Father & Pastor @alexandervictor.pav for believing in me and giving me this incredible honor to be a part of this year’s Mr Leboku contest. It truly was a dream come true.

To my family & friends; you all are the real MVPs, your encouragement has been my strength, and I’m so grateful to have you by my side. I couldn’t have done so much without y’all cheering me on at every point.

To my fellow contestants, I want to say how inspired I was by each of you. Competing alongside such talented, passionate, and driven individuals has been an unforgettable experience. We’ve all grown so much throughout this journey, and I’m proud of what we can accomplish together.

A huge thanks to the organizer @theking.ofthecity and his incredible team @euphoriaafrica, you truly outdid yourselves, and you’re deserving of every accolade.
To our sponsors and everyone else who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event possible, thank you! Your dedication and hard work made the 19th of August truly special.

Finally, I encourage anyone who has ever doubted themselves or felt like they don’t belong, to remember that you are capable of achieving great things, and your unique qualities are what make you special.

Thank you all so much once again. I’m excited for the opportunities that lie ahead, and I promise to use this platform to make a positive impact.
It’s a new dawn from here and with you all, nothing is impossible.

Keep you eyes peeled for all I’ll be bringing your way. If you aren’t already following me on all my socials, please do so. It’s mjohnofficial, everywhere. I’m also available for deals and partnerships. Kindly email:

Finally, the last parade has concluded, and Leboku is technically over—even though it officially ends after the final peace/farewell ceremony on Monday.

As the outgoing Mr. Leboku, I sincerely appreciate my father and pastor @alexandervictor.pav for his love, support, encouragement, and guidance throughout the past year of my reign. Thank you, sir, for everything—growth, strength, advancement, maturity, discernment, and so much more that you have stretched me to embrace. Everything I am today, celebrated by the people, is because of your tireless work in my life. For this, I am forever grateful. One year may be over, but the lessons learned and the opportunities given have produced and will continue to produce great results. I love you, Papa.

Thank you to my biological family, my church family, my managers, the government of cross River state, the event management department-governors office, the Umor otutu palace, all my friends. Y’all made this possible and a beautiful journey.

To my successor—I love you, brother. My journey only ends when yours does. By God’s grace, I will do all I can to ensure your reign is one to remember. Better is never behind, so I know even greater things will happen during your time. With your queen by your side, we will gather again next year to celebrate a very successful reign. You both have all my love and support.

It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve the people of Umor Otutu.
Now, I take a bow—unto the next chapter.

See you all at Leboku 2026!

God bless Umor Otutu.
God bless Yakurr Nation.
God bless Cross River State.

With deep respect and gratitude,
Obol Mbui John Ikpi
