“A goal without a plan is just a dream.”

Student-athletes spend hours working on their game but what about the hours outside of practice?

Your schoolwork. Your sleep. Your responsibilities. Your recovery. Your daily habits.

HOW ARE YOU USING YOUR 24 HOURS?

Big goals require more than talent and motivation. They require a plan.

That’s what I’m here to help you build.

Comment plan or DM me to help build your plan.

Had this question come up on a call this week, so I figured I’d share it here.

If your athlete is thinking about college sports, one of the first steps is creating an account with the NCAA Eligibility Center. But there’s more than one type of account, and it’s easy to pick the wrong one.

If your athlete is in 8th grade and starting to seriously think about college athletics, it’s worth learning about the academic and athletic certification account now. If they’re still figuring things out, the free Profile Page is a great place to start.

Already made a Profile Page? Don’t create a second account. You can transition the one you have when you need a certification account.

Got a 6th or 7th grader? You’re not behind. The free Profile Page is a low-pressure way to start learning the process, and you can transition it later if your athlete goes the D-I or D-II route.

And 5th grade parents? You’ve got time. You do not need to rush into registration.

This is one of those little things that’s easy to overlook until somebody tells you.

And there are A LOT of those little things when you’re trying to navigate the student-athlete process. by @mjseesit

Spent today at the EYG Skills Clinic w 8th-12th graders.

A really good reminder that development is a lot more than what shows up in a box score.

Conditioning.
Technique.
Listening.
Intent.
Decision making.
How you respond when you get tired.
How you execute when the drill gets more difficult.

And the best thing about these environments is getting to watch all of that.

Not just who can make a shot.

Who is paying attention?
Who is coachable?
Who can maintain technique when fatigue?
Who can think for themselves?

Had a conversation recently that got me thinking about something I see a lot in grassroots sports:

Athletes have access to A LOT of people.

Trainers.
Coaches.
Teams.
Mentors.
Performance people.
Programs.
Agencies.

But access to people isn’t necessarily the same thing as having an ecosystem.

Especially as an athlete’s journey gets more complicated, somebody has to be thinking about how all of these pieces actually fit together.

Who’s looking at the development plan?

Who’s helping create structure?

Who’s making sure the athlete and family aren’t just jumping from one resource to the next?

And where does representation actually fit into that picture?

Training matters.
Mentorship matters.
Performance matters.
Academics matter.
Representation can matter.

But they’re all pieces.

The bigger question is: who is connecting the pieces around the athlete? taken in Washington D. C. by @mjseesit

🧠I’ve been thinking a lot about what it really means to develop a student-athlete.

Yes, the player has to develop.

BUT, there’s also everything happening around the player; school, training, games, preparation, communication, routines, decisions, relationships and just knowing what’s going on

That part matters too!

That’s the work I’m becoming more and more interested in. Not just developing the on-court athlete.

Developing the operation around the athlete so they’re better prepared to handle everything that comes with being one 🤞🏾
