I woke up to find our song trending in YouTube’s top 10! Here’s a little something I wrote and performed for the new Sonic the Hedgehog movie (@sonicmovie) for Paramount. Produced by my brother @ruwanga 🔥. Almost a million views. Full song should be out next week! 🎶

A string snapped halfway through this one. I kept playing. 🎸💥

My cover of “Let’s Get It On” by Marvin Gaye, live in Burbank.

Written by Marvin Gaye and Ed Townsend. Some songs are too good to stop for a broken string.

Watch for the SNAP, then tell me you’d have kept going too.

For the full performance check the link in my bio!

Her generational talent as a songwriter and an entertainer was obvious but what I appreciated most about Miss Dolly Parton was the way she never apologized for who she was. Never has there been an artist more self-aware or truthful about her image, her roots, and her love for music. She shone such a bright and magnificent light on us all. 🌟

It’s my birthday! 🎂
And this lion has had one helluva a trip
around the sun. 🦁☀️🌎

Somehow, this year took me through 40+ states, countless cities, thousands of screaming “dancing queens”, some absolutely incredible stages, and a couple of wild rides around the country courtesy of live music. 🇺🇸🎶

But when I look back at these photos and videos, what stands out most isn’t the miles traveled or the shows played—it’s the people. The family and friends who have been there to cheer me on, the ones who showed up in ways big and small, and the ones we’ve had to say goodbye to along the way. ❤️

I’ve lost some people this year who I wish I could call, hug, or tell one more time what they mean to me. So I carry them with me. In the music, in the memories, and in every mile.

I’m incredibly grateful for this strange, beautiful, exhausting, hilarious life I get to live. Grateful for every stage, every laugh, every late night, every new city, every old friend, every new friend, and every person who continues to believe in me—even when I’m still figuring out what the hell I’m doing. 😂

Here’s to another year of chasing dreams, making music, telling stories, seeing the world, and hopefully making a little more money while I’m at it. 😂💰

New revolution around the sun. Same me, bigger dreams. 🌞🚀

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey. I love you. ❤️

Can’t wait to find whatever chaos is around the corner. 🥂 taken in Los Angeles, California by @mjultra

The world has lost an absolute legend.

I first discovered Glen Hansard after watching Once. Brilliant music, beautiful filmmaking, and a story that stayed with me forever. Glen and Markéta Irglová won the Oscar for “Falling Slowly,” but what the film gave me was something even more personal—it changed the way I saw busking.

At the time, busking was all I could really say I was. I’d take my guitar to Venice Beach or the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, sing until my fingers ached, and hope someone would stop and listen—or at the very least, toss a couple of bucks into the case so I could afford the bus ride home.

If you know me at all, you know what Jeff Buckley means to me. So when I heard Glen tell the story on the radio about convincing his young, ridiculously talented roadie to leave The Commitments tour, stay behind in New York, and take a gig at his friend’s Irish pub, Sin-é, I cried. That roadie was Jeff Buckley. I had no idea Glen had played such a pivotal role in that chapter of his life.

In 2015, I was working and performing at Harvelle’s in Santa Monica with my big brother, Toledo. We had just started a bit where I’d disappear behind the bar, then suddenly come out and perform a song. It was the very first night we tried it.

As I was closing the bar and putting bottles back on the shelf, I heard a warm Dublin brogue behind me.

“Excuse me, lad… I just wanted to tell you—you have a brilliant fucking voice.”

I turned around.

“Glen Hansard?” I managed to say.

“Guilty,” he smiled.

We stood there talking about busking, songwriting, Once, and how to avoid writing a bad song. Before he left, we exchanged numbers, and he told me to look him up whenever I finally made it to Ireland.

Later that year, he released Didn’t He Ramble. I told him how much I loved the record, and he wrote back wishing me well from “wet and windy Ireland.”

A year later, I was back in Pittsburgh visiting my family. I told my mom all about Glen and what his music had meant to me. By pure coincidence, he was playing a festival downtown that summer. She and I went together, and it became one of those memories I’ll always treasure.

Can’t believe it’s been 7 weeks with this amazing group @maniatheshow 🤯 ❤️ So many wonderful new memories and visits to some of the most beautiful pockets of the country; spreading some ABBA love 🎶. My son and fam came to a performance; sold out the Smith Center in Vegas; paid a visit to the last Blockbuster on Earth to pay my 26 year late fee; and frolicking in the Fargo snow! ❄️ taken in Fargo, North Dakota by @mjultra
