New beginnings 🌱 In alignment with my experience as an entrepreneur and my previous work in business development for Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO) 8(a), HUBZone, and veteran-owned small businesses, I am excited to be pivoting into #CivilService

In addition to running @thoseseendancing, I’ve begun as the State of Hawai‘i’s first Small Business Procurement Coordinator where I’ll be leading the initiative to boost participation of small businesses — especially those owned by Native Hawaiians, veterans, and women — in state contracting opportunities.

Side story, I met Governor Green at a pop-up over the holidays where he picked out that bikini bottom to hold in the photo. 😂 We chatted about small business in Hawaiʻi and I mentioned that I was interviewing for this position, so he handed me his business card and said I could put him down as a reference. Thanks Governor! 🤙🏽

Are you:
• A small business looking to work with state agencies?
• A state agency wanting to offer more small business opportunities?
• A small business that needs guidance on how to take advantage of government contracts to grow your company?
I know what it’s like to be on both sides of the table, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on what this program should include so we can develop it together. Please reach out or come visit me in my office across from the capitol. 💌

And if you haven’t seen yet, new @thoseseendancing just dropped, go check it out! 😍🥰

A truly custom piece by a longtime friend, @hokusurfboards 🤎💛💚🩵 I was stoked to collaborate on the design for this 9’3 lady log with a fellow entrepreneur who knows firsthand that running a business on your own ain’t easy, especially while allowing space for creativity. After all, that’s why we both got into business in the first place: to create. Balancing it all takes intention, passion and perseverance, and I do my best to support brands that share these values.

It’s crazy how Hoku picks up on little details about the way you surf and shapes them into a board that feels truly made for you. From the first wave I caught on this board, I knew I had been missing out! 😜

A new board for a new era. Thank you 🤙🏽✨ taken in Honolulu, Hawaii by @mkbaby
