🌳🚜 Have you spotted this unusual machine working in Milton Keynes’ parks? Here’s what it’s doing! 👀

If you’ve recently spotted a rather impressive piece of machinery reaching high into the trees around Milton Keynes, you might be wondering what’s going on!

The Parks Trust has been using a specialist piece of equipment known as a long-reach grapple saw to help safely remove failing trees across its parkland.

And it’s pretty clever! 👏

🌲 WHAT DOES THE MACHINE DO?

The long-reach grapple saw can reach up into trees, securely grip sections of branches or trunks, cut them and carefully lower them to the ground.

This allows teams to dismantle potentially dangerous trees in a controlled and efficient way.

🚧 NO ROAD CLOSURE NEEDED!

The equipment has recently been used at Poplar Plantation, where several failing trees needed to be removed for safety reasons.

Thanks to the specialist machinery, The Parks Trust was able to carry out the work without needing to close the nearby road, helping minimise disruption for motorists and park visitors.

🌳 WHY ARE TREES REMOVED?

Although we all love the beautiful trees that make Milton Keynes such a green city, some can become structurally unsafe due to age, disease, decay or damage.

Removing trees that are failing can sometimes be necessary to protect visitors and maintain safe public spaces.

The Parks Trust continues to manage thousands of trees across Milton Keynes, helping look after the city’s much-loved green spaces. 💚

💜 Local TikToker @jasontuk urges Milton Keynes residents to support Leah Croucher’s Law petition

Milton Keynes content creator @jasontuk, known for exploring different parts of our city and sharing his adventures online, is using his platform to support an incredibly important local campaign. ❤️

This time, Jason is encouraging his followers to read and sign the petition for Leah’s Law, a campaign launched by the family of murdered Milton Keynes teenager Leah Croucher.

Leah was just 19 years old when she disappeared on her way to work in February 2019. Her remains were tragically discovered in Furzton more than three years later.

💜 WHAT IS LEAH’S LAW?

Leah’s parents, John and Claire Croucher, are campaigning for tougher sentencing for repeat sexual offenders, proposing a mandatory minimum custodial sentence following a third sexual offence conviction.

Their hope is that changes to the law could help prevent other families from experiencing the unimaginable heartbreak they have endured.

📝 MORE THAN 82,000 PEOPLE HAVE ALREADY SIGNED!

The family are working towards their target of 100,000 signatures and recently secured the support of all three Milton Keynes MPs.

Now, Jason is helping spread the message to an even wider audience.

Our local explorer @jasontuk is back, and this time he’s visiting one of Central Milton Keynes’ most iconic community spaces… THE BUSZY! 🎥

🤝 Young people coming together, sharing their passions and expressing themselves.

No fancy facilities. No expensive memberships. Just a genuine, authentic community space where people can be themselves. ❤️

🏗️ BUT WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD?

With proposals emerging for a new 4,000-capacity entertainment venue involving the former Central Milton Keynes Bus Station, questions are being raised about what could happen to the Buszy and its much-loved skate plaza.

To be clear, there is currently no confirmation that the skate area will be removed.

But surely spaces like this deserve to be protected and considered carefully as our city continues to develop?

Milton Keynes needs exciting new entertainment venues, but we also need places where creativity, individuality and community spirit can thrive.

Apparently, driving around Milton Keynes brings out the Formula 1 driver in everyone! 😂

TikTok creator @tomsimons._ has shared his thoughts on driving around MK, particularly when coming off a roundabout and accelerating onto one of our many dual carriageways!

And his verdict?

He even jokes that he’s fuel-conscious everywhere else… but as soon as he gets to Milton Keynes…

A property listing is causing quite a stir among residents, with questions being raised about the use of AI-generated images to market a house!

TikTok creator @housinghorrors has highlighted the listing, leaving people wondering just how accurately the pictures represent the property.

And it raises a pretty interesting question…

🏡 ARE WE SELLING HOUSES OR SELLING DREAMS? 😂

AI technology can certainly help potential buyers imagine what a property could look like, but should it be used in estate agent listings without clearly showing the home’s actual condition?
