Multiple rescue applications, one psychic call with Wilson, one sponsored adoption in honor of sweet Lou Boo (another story) three meet and greets, one declined adoption, and one missed adoption. And the search to find the perfect match led us to Dolly.

Dolly is settling in nicely. She loves Wilson, maybe loves Ranger a little more. She loves to nap and go for a walks. She’s not fond of being left alone so there’s some work to do.

Thanks to Cedar Rapids Animal Care and Control and Kirkwood Animal Health Programs for all of their work with Dolly and the many other animals they love on.

The first day of school has always been one of my favorite days. It’s the only profession where you can get a restart each year. It’s the educators who have the count down to the first day of school who I want to surround myself with.

Today marks my 48th first day of school. I’m grateful to continue serving as a Regional Administrator with Grant Wood Area Education Agency for the 26-27 school year. Along with supporting 2 local school districts, I also have the privilege of working and supporting several unique programs in our area:
-Foundation 2 Shelter School
-Linn County Juvenile Detention Center
-VITAL at Kirkwood Community College
-Anamosa State Penitentiary
-Iowa Medical and Classification Center

And the tradition continues with Anna Peters! She’s starting her 5th year of teaching. Northwest Elementary in Ankeny should be grateful to have Miss Anna back for year two. My hope is every student has a teacher like Anna.

It started in 2007, when Jackson, as a five-year-old, noticed many gravesites with flags didn’t have flowers. It was in 2008 when we started the tradition of placing a carnation on a veteran’s grave who appeared to have not been visited.

I knew there would be years when we wouldn’t be able to do it together. This year was one of those. So, as a family of three today, we visited Grandpa Roger and continued our tradition of thanking our veterans at Cedar Memorial Cemetery. by @mkh4ui
