POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
After months of preparation, we are proud to officially announce the launch of MK Impresari, a new opera agency representing over 50 distinguished artists across the globe. From established stars to rising voices, our roster reflects the breadth, brilliance, and individuality of today’s opera world.

As Director Marcin Kopec shares:
“MKI is an agency united by a singular vision: to bring back the true essence of opera by placing the human voice at the very heart of everything we do. Inspired by the golden era of singing, our agency stands apart in a world where production often eclipses expression. We believe the voice — pure, unfiltered and deeply expressive — remains the most powerful instrument in the world. We manage only those we truly believe in, and we represent only those who remind us why opera still matters.”

With the support of our international partners, including a valued affiliation with IMG Artists, we look forward to this exciting new chapter and to supporting our artists on the world stage.

Welcome to MK Impresari!

@pawelkonikbaritone returns to the @staatsoperstuttgart as the Forester in Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen, reviving from 16th October. He sang the role when the production premiered last November, where he was praised for "[portraying] the Forester's inner turmoil with a blazing baritone," as "a heroic-baritone Forester," rising further still "in the moving final monologue." The production is directed by Stephan Kimmig and conducted by @killian_farrell, running through 21st November.

For this week’s ‘Ask an Agent,’ we’re discussing what impresses an agent.

@marcin.kopec.mki filmed this one in front of the @philharmoniedeparis, where @agarehlis and @andrei.danilov.tenor sang Verdi’s Requiem this past weekend.

The short answer is that the industry standard for impressive singing used to be the classic ‘park and bark,’ but these days we need the full package. It starts with the voice, of course, from the colour, the dynamic range, and the first impression it makes. Technique comes next. The voices that sound easiest usually have the best technique, with secure top notes, a working passaggio, and no huge technical issues.

Then comes dramatic strength. We want to work with artists who can hold an audience’s attention for an hour or two, telling the story through singing, the body and acting. Finally, we look for singers who get on well with their colleagues. Everyone expects professionals who do their work well and are kind to the people around them. The times of the Divas are gone.

Have a question for our agents? Send it our way, and it might feature in a future Ask an Agent.

@szymonmechlinski sings his final Lescaut in @teatro_real's new production of Manon Lescaut this Friday, 9th October. It closes a run that brought Puccini's opera back to the Madrid stage after 102 years. Hailed as "the impeccable Lescaut of Szymon Mechliński," his performance was declared a “great triumph of the evening…The baritone crafted a perfectly defined portrait of the character, just as one might imagine, and vocally encountered no difficulty, imposing himself authoritatively on the orchestra and even the chorus in his demanding first-act interventions.”

Congratulations on such a successful role debut, Szymon!

Do agents only look for young singers? That's the question behind this week's Ask an Agent.

The short answer is no. We work with singers at every stage of life, and that range matters, both for our roster and for the opera industry as a whole.Every voice matures on its own timeline, and you can't expect a Rossini tenor and a Wagner bass to reach their peak at the same stage of life. The repertoire needs every stage of a career, too. While some roles call for youth and freshness, like Adina, Pamina or Juliet, others, such as the Countess in The Queen of Spades or King Philip in Don Carlos, gain enormously from life experience and vocal maturity. Age is simply one part of the picture. What really matters is the individual artist.

Have a question for our team? Let us know!
