Build a Backbone is a reminder that growth happens when you stop creating for approval and start creating for yourself. It’s about standing up for yourself, trusting your vision, and recognizing your own worth—even when others don’t. taken in New York, New York by @mleearchives

Sogetsu - Japanese art of flower arrangement that emphasizes harmony, balance and connects nature with the human spirit. Rainy days are closely associated with cleansing - reflection and melancholy. With the relation of
both inspired not only a functional piece but a sculptural one, that has more than one purpose in a home.

I missed the deadline for this submission but still decided to put it out there🩷 thanks to @designwanted for taking me out my design block taken in New York, New York by @mleearchives

DISTORTED - 00/01

Depression & Anxiety is an ongoing battle that occurs in majority of peoples lives. This piece is inspired by how our reality distorts whenever this feeling comes around. Parametric design helped me narrow down how I could perceive this feeling & create a physical (or 3D) piece to resemble distortion. Along with including curvature aspects to represent the waves of emotions that we feel with it.

However with the use of natural materials this piece rather than turning out to feel cold became the opposite and evokes a “zen” relaxed sensation to provide comfort inspired by darkness.

MLEE’s DJ Booth 🐅

This piece centralizes around the way DJs operate when they’re in their zone, they come with their laptops prepped and only a table and a platform to differentiate them from the crowd. A symbolism of a CD peaks at the highest point of the piece spiraling down with its connection to the speaker system imbedded. Along with a hidden area to the crowd for DJ’s to store anything they carry with them.

There’s playfulness with the materials in this piece that immediately make it stand out within the crowd as well as the architectural points that the piece carries within itself. A sense of modernism and brutalism intertwined just like music and DJ’s taken in New York, New York by @mleearchives

Designed a conceptual space for “Build-A-Backbone” where the stairs lead to the sky and the window looks out to the desert. Brutalist design meets nature. taken in New York, New York by @mleearchives

And that’s a wrap Complexcon💞
@malo97 hit my line moooonths ago about designing for @emotionaltherapy_ booth at Complex and I immediately started cooking up ideas. I went into deep research on how to attract customers to the booth. The reality is humans are drawn to nature regardless, and while looking through multiple examples time and time again I saw high end brands lean into nature- whether it’s Hermes or Virgil’s design for LV. In this i discovered the beautiful way reflection and nature coincide. @emotionaltherapy_ is known for its color blocking and playfulness, in this dark forest theme my intention was to make the merch stand out while reflecting each aspect of the booth creating the perfect photo op spot.

This was the most intense but fun weekend. The laughs we all shared while also getting cranky with eachother because of our lack of sleep and food lol! Shoutout to the BIG4 and most of all Myles for believing in my vision for ET 🐻💞 taken in Las Vegas, NV by @mleearchives

“BUILD A BACKBONE B*TCH” - Sept Issue.
Doing some self-work, realizing I need to be strong in my choices. A pep talk from me to me, and from me to you. Told myself if I’m building this backbone in real life, why not build it and make this a furniture piece — this led me to here. Stop caring what people think of you and care more of what you think of yourself. taken in New York, New York by @mleearchives

Puzzled - August 2024

Inspired by puzzles and modernism by form mixed with Chinoiserie with the use of @perigold fabric. The single seater lounge chair is inviting but moody.
