The sacrifices were many and I had nearly come out on top 🥈 I did it! 🥹
I am the 2024 World Master Championship Silver Medalist for my age (Master 1), rank (Brown Belt), & weight class (Medium) 🤯 in the WORLD 🌎

3 match summary:
1st – by bow & arrow 🏹
2nd – via kimura 💪
3rd – opponent rocket launched to closed guard, she went crab ride transition when I went for a toe hold, took my back and caught me with a single wing choke to tap ✋

Mindset summary:
I dug deep and went for full Mama Honey Badger mode 😤 as if this person, my opponent, was trying to take my child

Between matches, I kept saying that I am HIS champion and Philippians 4:13 scripture - over and over ✝️

I am so thankful for my support system & am still processing this win – I have been putting in the work for this & for it to happen is surreal

Now home bound to Vancouver Island, Canada 🇨🇦 All I have been thinking about is reuniting with my fiancé Scott & our 2.5 year old son Pio 🥰🏡 I am so blessed for this beautiful life & ride 🙏✨ by @mluzadas

There is something incredibly special about standing behind the camera and witnessing the moments that make this community what it is. 👁

Every smile, every word of encouragement, and every challenge overcome tells a story. Watching the women of our program grow in confidence, skill, and friendship is one of the greatest joys I get to experience, not only as an instructor, but as a photographer. 📸✨️

I'm so grateful to be part of a community that has built such a welcoming, supportive, and safe environment here at Van Isle JiuJitsu. The techniques we learn are important, but it's the camaraderie, trust, and friendships formed on these mats that make this place truly special.

Thank you to every man and woman who steps onto the mats and helps make this community what it is. 💜🥋

It is amazing how much jiu-jitsu has grown on Vancouver Island and for the athletes in our community to have such a rad experience locally!

I’m so proud of @chloejoelles for representing Van Isle BJJ - showcasing her grit, resilience, and sportsmanship! Along with our men’s team event - the guys put on a show with integrity and respect in all their matches, showing what we are all about at @vanislebjj 👏👏👏

Some days it’s hard to put into words how grateful I am to live this life. To step onto these mats day after day.
Recovery and comeback seasons aren’t easy. There are frustrating days, humbling days, days where your mind remembers what your body is still working to get back to. But walking this journey beside one of my favorite drilling partners, bestfriend, and someone I’m lucky enough to call my JiuJitsu sister has made every step meaningful.
We’re rebuilding. Getting stronger. Getting healthier. Getting our minds and bodies back to where they belong, one round, one drill and one day at a time.
Forever grateful for this journey. Even more grateful for who I get to share it with 🤍🥋 ... @mluzadas
