H.01 | Studio House | Architects‘ House | Conceptual Design

This project was developed as an independent exploration to refine my technical and design skills, as I do not publish work from my professional practice. As the name suggests, the house is designed for an architect couple, reflecting the shared passion and profession of my wife and myself. It is conceived as a studio house, where living and working merge in a continuous dialogue.

Set within untouched nature, the design establishes a serene retreat for reflection, inspiration, and creative work. Clear, simple geometries interact with deliberately expressive forms, creating a tension explored through space, structure, and materiality. The project is not a finished proposal, but a continuously evolving work, reflecting an open, experimental process in which design, experience, and reflection inform one another.

The central volume houses the representative and communal areas of the house, including guest rooms, dining, and living spaces. All service and technical functions—such as the kitchen, storage and utility rooms, and the central elevator—are organized around a functional core. The main staircase plays a defining role in the spatial organization, serving both as a primary circulation element and a distinctive architectural feature.

The upper level accommodates private rooms alongside a shared studio, which is spatially connected to a generous double-height hall above. This hall, conceived as a library and gathering space, forms the symbolic heart of the house—where space, light, and landscape converge into a singular architectural experience.

E01 | House of Education | Design Project 2018

An architecture project from 2018, created during my student years.

The Gallusschule is located in Frankfurt am Main, between Mainzerlandstraße and Lahnstraße, forming a harmonious transition between the busy main street and the quiet residential area along Lahnstraße. The building consists of two identical rectangular blocks, offset relative to each other, creating a clearly structured central core. A generous forecourt, set back from Mainzerlandstraße, provides distance from the busy street and space for large gatherings. On the quieter south side, the setback serves as a schoolyard, offering students a protected outdoor area.

The monolithic building opens to visitors through a clearly defined entrance. From the central staircase, all key areas are accessed: cafeteria, library, triple gymnasium, rooftop terrace, and classrooms for secondary and science education. The full-day area with access to the schoolyard is located on the ground floor. In the west wing, art rooms, school administration offices, and staff rooms for the cafeteria are grouped around an inner courtyard. On the upper floors, classrooms are divided into three clearly defined areas. Wall panels with circular openings, inspired by Louis Kahn, create exciting visual connections, zone the teaching areas, and give the building a distinctive architectural identity. The building is constructed in solid construction with reinforced concrete. The façade was designed as a prefabricated sandwich element: load-bearing shell, insulation, and façade layer form a pre-made element in the factory. The concrete is tinted in sandstone color and hydrophobized, making the façade both visually high-quality and weather-resistant.
