Three years ago, Russell Peters gave me spots at Oxnard Levity Live for the first time.

Last night, he gave me TWO. ❤️

I’m so, so, so thankful for Russell.
The real GOAT. 🐐

I’m grateful for the opportunities, encouragement, and trust over the years. It means a lot coming from someone I respect so much.

Huge thank you also to Russell’s friends, the staff at Levity Live Oxnard, and everyone in the audience last night. So many kind people came up to me after the shows and made me feel incredibly supported.

The last couple of nights on stage have honestly been really special for me. I’m working hard, improving, and feeling more and more at home up there.

And now… next stop: the biggest event of the year for me — Stationery Park! 💖✏️📓

Thank you. 🙏 (thank you for taking my picture @rkisreallydark !!)

My favorite son turned 21 last weekend!

We (6 of us) went to Vegas to celebrate. I ate and read and tried to enjoy the moment a bit more.

“Take it all in, Michelle!!!” Haha. I have to remind myself!!

📚❤️ Some people are just as wonderful offstage as they are talented onstage.

@realdlhughley is one of the nicest and sweetest person I know. ❤️

Reading his memoir, Charlie’s Boy, gives me a glimpse into his vulnerability and the experiences that shaped him into the entertainer he is today. It’s a reminder that behind the laughter, there’s a real person with a story, struggles, and life experiences that helped shape who he became.

The book also takes you back to his childhood growing up in Watts in the 1960s and ’70s. You don’t have to be a comedy fan to appreciate his story. It’s a fascinating, personal look at his life and the experiences that made him who he is today.

It’s 読書の秋 (Dokusho no Aki) — the perfect season to curl up with a good book! 🍂📖

If you haven’t gotten his book yet, I highly recommend it! ❤️

Last night, I went to the book release party for @crazylegsbx’s new book, @rocksteadyforlife at FYI Campus! 📚🔥

And YES, I got Crazy Legs’ autograph on my copy!! 🙌😆❤️

I met Crazy Legs through a mutual friend, and he is SO, SO, SO nice!

It was such a cool learning experience! The book is filled with amazing photos and stories behind breaking and the culture surrounding it. There’s so much history to learn!

If you haven’t gotten your copy yet, I HIGHLY recommend it!! 📚🙌

He’s also heading to Paris 🇫🇷 and Tokyo 🇯🇵 for book-signing events. How exciting!

Congratulations, Crazy Legs, on the new book! Wishing you all the best! 🌎❤️

If you’ve ever walked into a Spirit Halloween, seen a shiny $20 "geisha" robe with plastic chopsticks in the wig, and just sighed—this episode is for you.

Our new episode of Japanese America is out today: "Costumes and Consequences: Who Gets to Wear What?"

No guests this time. Just Michelle and me getting into the annual Halloween internet fight, tearing apart the racks at Spirit Halloween, and getting into why people in Japan and Japanese Americans often see this stuff so differently.

Give it a listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your shows.

If you dig it, hit subscribe and take a quick second to leave us a rating and review—it really helps people find us!

🎉 一周年記念！ONE YEAR of Nihongo to English! 🎉

37 episodes, 2,600+ downloads, and somehow we still haven’t run out of things to talk about. ありがとう to every single one of you!

This week’s Genki lesson: where IS everything?! 前・隣・上・下・間, plus です → でした. And of course a mountain of チャーシュー 🍜, the 箸なし・箸あり game 🥢, and what “hair of the dog” has to do with a Japanese dessert pun.

1年間ありがとうございました！これからもよろしくお願いします🙏

🎧 EP 37 out now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & Amazon Music

NO homework. Just bilingual chaos — and somehow you learn.

🎉 IT’S HERE!!! 🎉

My first 30-minute comedy special, Comedy InvAsian III, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video! 🍿🎤

I’ve been doing stand-up for 9 years, and seeing this special finally out in the world is pretty damn surreal. 🥹

This special is a piece of my journey—being Japanese, being a mom, getting older, navigating cultures, and finding plenty of things to laugh about along the way. 🇯🇵🇺🇸

If you watch it, please let me know what you think! And if you enjoy it, tell a friend. ❤️

Go watch Comedy InvAsian III on Amazon Prime Video! episode 8 is Michelle MaliZaki!!
