Future Dolls. So, I almost never write long captions and I rarely spill tea, but the timing here is just too good to ignore. This photoshoot was produced almost a year ago as part of a larger project with quite a backstory: In the summer of 2025, while on vacation in Greece, I met an industry insider at a party. He took an interest in one of my ideas and "guaranteed" he had the connections to get my work published in one of my favorite magazines. Naively, I trusted him, despite having, not zéro, but very little proof that he could actually pull it off. By October, I had recruited an incredible team of creatives for the collaboration, sinking over a thousand euros I couldn't afford to lose and a massive amount of energy into bringing the vision to life. Then, he ghosted me for months. When he finally resurfaced, he claimed the magazine was kinda struggling and would likely go on hiatus. Yet, over the next few months, they launched a new issue. I was never contacted by anyone and of course my work was nowhere to be found (he invited me however to the launch party, knowing that I wasn't available to attend). Fast forward to a couple of days ago: the magazine officially announced it is pausing publication. That caught me off guard, as I had spent months assuming that my connection was full of bullshit (and to be fair I am still not sure if it was a coincidence or if he indeed had inside info). The wildest part of this whole ordeal is that he gained absolutely nothing from stringing me along. There was no financial kickback or benefit to him whatsoever, he just wasted the time of a group of people over a drunk promise. If there’s a moral to this story: don't believe drunk people you meet at parties. To everyone who contributed their time, talent and material to this project despite the outcome, I am glad to have met you and super grateful. RESIDUES What remains after something has passed? What lingers when an action ends, a body leaves, a surface is altered, an emotion overwhelms the mind, or time settles into matter? Altered bodies in ambiguous spaces, human chimeras, living residues. Trauma, through memory and nostalgia, invades the body and completely transforms it. The body now carries it forever. In these hybrid environments, the residue is explicitly visible, inscribed into the flesh and space alike, anticipating that the viewer’s interaction with the work would be a physical and mental experience, echoing the work’s nature. Layering photography, organic elements and painting on textured cotton paper, the pieces physically integrate organic and inorganic matter. These tactile elements form the structure of my figures, depicting the traces of damage and preparing them for the inevitable, upcoming entropy, the exact same way the body and the mind as an entity is unable to escape from. The physical medium carries the same weight as the figures. The residue becomes both subject and surface: a tangible, visceral accumulation of time, damage, effort, failure, success, transformation and soon enough - disintegration. THE FUNHOUSE welcome to the funhouse where the cozy comfort of domestic life meets the technological bondage of the digital age. it reimagines classic household roles with a dark-humored twist. daily routines are turned upside down as subjects find themselves physically and metaphorically bound by the very devices meant to liberate them. they are trapped in a tangle of HDMI cables, restrained by charging cords and paralyzed by the glowing captivation of monitors and smart-home screens. with best team: @mmaro_____ (photography & AD) @alien.perot (styling) @colin_mua (hair & make-up) @gigilazarid (set design) @chuquichinchay_raymi (assistant) shot at @preambule.studio by @mmaro_____
