Have you seen the articles about how amplify! came to be in the @westerndaily and North Somerset Times this week? If you missed it, it all started with @mnifiann (pictured centre)… 💛

When Maureen Ni Fiann moved to Clevedon in 2020, lockdown restrictions were only just beginning to lift. Having worked on a street piano project in London, she knew the power music has to bring people together. Walking past Clevedon’s silent Bandstand, she saw the perfect place to help reconnect the community.

She approached @clevedonlitfest with the idea of a live music event, and with their support, Clevedon Live Music was born in June 2021. The response was incredible, with musicians back on stage, people dancing along the seafront and many local performers playing live for the first time in over a year.

The idea then grew becoming an annual daytime event at Queen’s Square with support from @discoverclevedon and a small team of volunteers, before @shaw.susannah (left) and Annie Robinson (right) joined the team. After the 2025 festival, local venues encouraged them to dream even bigger and expand into a weekend festival. Susannah came up with the name amplify! and this September that dream becomes reality.

From 3-6 September, thanks to sponsorship this year from Matt and the team at @wildwestcider and funded as in previous years by @discoverclevedon, live music will pop up across Clevedon - from the Bandstand, Queen’s Square and @clevedonpier to pubs, cafés and community spaces. With the majority of events free (the opening at @curzonclevedon is ticketed and has a small charge) there’s something for everyone.

At its heart, amplify! is about what Clevedon Live Music has always been about: bringing people together through music, celebrating our amazing town and creating memorable days in the place we live 💚
