| Did They Survive?

When justice is absent, memory becomes the last line of defence against forgetting.

For 535 days, El Fasher endured hunger, bombardment and fear, ending in genocidal crimes that changed the city and its people.

Many escaped, but thousands remain unaccounted for. Through testimonies from inside and outside the siege, the film asks: Who truly survived?

Join us today, 31 October, in Kampala and Nairobi for the film’s premiere.

لَنْ نَتَوَقَّفْ.... by @mo.zakaria249

On October 26th, we mark one year since the wound of El Fasher. We come together to commemorate the first anniversary of the genocide, reaffirming that our memory is alive and will not fade.

We chose ‘Red’ as the color for this memorial، the red of solidarity, truth, and justice. This symbol did not emerge from a void; it was drawn from the grim reality of satellite imagery that documented the bloodstains of the victims on the ground. From the depths of this pain, we transformed that blood into a living emblem of remembrance and a resounding rejection of silence.

This campaign is more than just a commemoration; it is a global, humanitarian call to tell the survivors: you are not alone. It is a plea to stand united for the truth, ensuring that the souls of El Fasher are never erased from our collective memory, and that impunity will never have the final word.

“ When i left the city of elfasher after documenting for fifteen months i left behind me my colleague Muammar Ibrahim Aljazeer journalist and he is arrested in 26 october, and right now he have one hundred and ninety days in RSF jail in Nyala “

#FreeMuammar by @mo.zakaria249

On World Press Freedom Day, I extend my sincere gratitude to UNESCO for giving me the opportunity to participate and speak at this year’s conference.

It was an honor to be a voice conveying the reality of what civilians in Sudan are enduring, and to share my personal experience covering the war both from the field and in exile. I felt it was my duty to tell the stories of those who have been starved, killed, and displaced in El Fasher, and to highlight the heavy price my fellow Sudanese journalists pay to uncover the truth under extremely dangerous conditions.

I spoke about Muammar Ibrahim, who today marks 190 days since his arrest and disappearance at the hands of the Rapid Support Forces, stressing that protecting journalists is, in fact, protecting the truth itself.

My aim was not only to recount events, but to remind the global conscience and decision-makers of their responsibility toward voices that rarely reach such halls.

Finally, I am delighted to congratulate the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate and every journalist in my country on their well‑deserved win of the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize this year. This recognition is an international acknowledgment of the courage and legendary resilience of Sudanese journalists.
