I heard a quote a long time ago that said, “The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.” -David Viscott⁣
⁣
I’ve been in constant pursuit of that. I don’t know if it will ever fully arrive, but maybe that’s the point. Ha.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝘆⁣

If you feel this more in your back leg than your front… it could be mobility… but more often, it’s your setup.⁣
⁣
Most people:⁣
• Elevate their back foot too high⁣
• Stay too upright⁣
• Keep their stance too short (longer stance = more glute, less front hip tension)⁣
⁣
So instead of training your legs…⁣
you’re just stretching your hip flexors.⁣
⁣
Fix your setup → change the stimulus.⁣
⁣
If your back thigh is drifting too far behind you, that’s when you start overloading the hip flexors.⁣

Contrast training in action.

Heavy strength work primes the nervous system, then we immediately convert it into explosive power.

If your B-stance RDL feels unstable, awkward, or all in your low back… watch this.

The B-stance (kickstand) RDL is simply a supported single-leg hinge.

It allows you to:
✨ Load one leg
✨ Build glutes + hamstrings
✨ Feel more stable than a true single-leg RDL

But here’s where most women lose the stimulus:

• They throw the back leg too far back
• They keep the front knee locked
• They dump too much weight into the back foot
• They rock backward instead of staying over the working leg

Here’s what we’re coaching instead:

✔️ Back foot = light support (heel elevated)
✔️ Majority of your weight stays on the front leg
✔️ Soft bend in the front knee
✔️ Front shin stays mostly vertical
✔️ Hips move back to create a true hinge
✔️ Stay stacked over your working foot — don’t drift backward

When this is done right, you should feel:
🔥 Glutes
🔥 Hamstrings
On the FRONT leg.

Not your low back.
Not your back leg.

Small position tweaks completely change the muscle stimulus.

Train intentionally.

Training age:
It represents accumulated training experience over time and should not be confused with biological age.

Why this matters to me:
It influences variables such as exercise complexity, volume tolerance, intensity tolerance, recovery needs, and rate of progression.

Jacob is one of the best athletes I’ve had the honor of working with. When he comes home on break and gets some sessions in, it’s always great to see the adaptations he’s made through his consistent training. At this point, Jacob’s training age is about 9 years. This is good reminder for young athletes and parents that it takes time. Be patient. taken in Willoughby, Ohio by @mo_mayzing

Catch → react → throw.⁣
Efficient arm action. Rhythm over effort.⁣

This forces flow, clean arm action, staying grounded, and unwinding out front.⁣

Pulldowns give our athletes a chance to create speed and feel how power moves up the chain. No muscling — just rhythm, timing, and rotation. The more they stay loose and transfer energy smoothly, the more consistent velocity they produce on the mound. More to come. taken in Ohio Sports Complex by @mo_mayzing
