I was trying to hit the ball LESS hard here.

Sounds stupid.

Watch the last few balls. 👀

This session was about fixing how my bottom hand enters the drive.

Because the bottom hand itself isn’t the enemy.

When it takes over too early though?

Grip tightens.

Shape disappears.

And a shot that should be timed suddenly becomes a wrestle.

So we stripped it back.

50–60% intent.

Relaxed hands.

Straight bat path.

Head over the ball.

Contact under the eyes.

Then allow the bottom hand to accelerate through the ball.

The cue from the session:

Shape first. Power second.

Don’t judge the drill by how impressive the first few balls look.

That’s where we get training wrong sometimes.

We chase the outcome before building the movement.

Big shoutout to @tailoredcricketcoaching for helping me understand the WHY behind these reps.

Because there’s a massive difference between:

hitting lots of balls

and

actually training.

Stick around for the final drives.

That’s the payoff.

And that’s why sometimes the fastest way to hit harder…

is to stop trying to hit so hard. 🏏
