IAORANA 🇵🇫

You may know me as a photographer and filmmaker…
but some of you first knew me as a singer 🙂

Released in 2014, IAORANA is an ode to Polynesia with Jmi Sissoko, a song that has travelled around the world.

Twelve years later, it means a lot to know it still connects with the international ‘ori tahiti community.

What memories does it bring back?
Where did you first hear it?

Full music video on YouTube:

Roanuu
Hō’ē taure’a nō Tuauru,
Ua haere ōna i te ‘o’o’ā Tefauroa,
Hi’o atura ōna te purotu Tehoho
No tōna haviti, hina’aro atura ia fa’aipoipo hia raua
Tēra ra aita ō Tehoho e au ia na
Nā roto i te heva, tauturu hia tōna mama ia na
Taui ihoa ra ō Roanuu i tōna hoho’a
Riro atura ei tāne ei nehenehe mau
Taui tura te mana’o a Tehoho
Pahono atu Roanuu : « Aita vau e ho’i mai, Aita oe e ha’apa’o te nehenehe o to’u mafatu, te nehenehe o to’u tino ana’e »

Inspiré de la légende de Roanuu, où l’on apprend que la véritable beauté ne se voit pas toujours… elle se ressent🌺

Hō’ē hōhō’a, hō’ē pōro’i

Tava’e
E manu mo’a
Tua’ā’ai no Marukoa
‘Ei tīa’i i te poro’i ra a te mau atua
E manu mo’a, ‘ōna mau, mai tōna pererau hanahana
Teie manu mo’a, tāpa’o o te moni e o te ha’amaita’ira’a

La légende de Tava’e
Tava’e, l’oiseau sacré de Marukoa. Messager des dieux, son apparition serait un signe de chance et de bénédiction divine.

📸 Māuruuru @moanablackstone no te mau hōhō’a
