Watching Rain grow and develop has been one of the most beautiful things to experience. I’ve realized that as I witness him growing, I too am growing alongside him and experiencing subtle yet significant shifts in my own transformation as a woman and a mother. It’s difficult to put into words, but with each stage, something new unfolds—things that were there all along, just waiting to be challenged and opened so you can become a more grounded and expanded version of yourself.

It’s a complete surrender to who you are becoming, even if who that is feels unknown. It’s a softening of your heart while feeling so strong at the same time. It’s seeing what you find beautiful and nurturing in your own mother now living within yourself.

I finally understand what it means to be a mother, and it is the most rewarding, challenging, and proudest thing I will ever do or be. Happy Mother’s Day to all who mother ❤️ Photos by @filmofalways by @moanahana

James has been working from 9-7 during the week since we’ve been up in Marin so I’ve been solo with Rain. Our Rain Kai Nalu is almost 8 months! The past few months have been such a fun age and I’m sure it’s only going to get better and better. 6 months postpartum: feeling nostalgic and so proud of myself for this expansive journey so far. From experiencing a loss with our first pregnancy, to carrying Rain, and now navigating postpartum and motherhood.

This season has stretched me in ways I never could have imagined, and I’m so grateful for all that it has taught me so far. This season of life and motherhood feels so full yet repetitive all at the same time. Some days feel like I’m in survival mode, with our days revolving around nursing and napping but the small moments in between are so special as Rain continues to develop and grow. He’s now 6 months old and our hearts are exploding more than we thought possible. I’m so excited to get to know who he is and his soul. I know I can’t be present for every moment but I want to cherish this time as much as I can so I don’t look back wishing I had held him a little longer in my arms before bedtime or looking at his face and little hands on my chest while he happily nurses 💙 being his mama is the biggest privilege and so grateful for our little fam by @moanahana
