TIL that ground and beach crabs luuuv to shred stuff with their lil shredder claws.

Theyll rip up scraps near their burrows to clear the path, or just out of curiosity, maybe it’s a tactile fun thing too? I mean, who doesn’t like tearing up a paper straw idly while out dining? This guy do lol!

But theyll also drag special bits they fancy back to the pad for nesting mats, or as door plugs.

Now this particular fella, lives at my compost heap, and we got off on the wrong foot : (

He surprised me, I surprised him, and I may have said something like how delicious he looked…

I may be anthropomorphizing here but sumbitch if I don’t privately think maybe this was a RESPONSE clawback clapback warning directed at meeeee

Caution tape duly noted, I’m slightly intimidated.

Regardless, this is the Boss Crab of Central Fl and I dare anyone to challenge their leadership. I will follow and obey.

If any of y’all know a more worthy crab, let’s get em together to duke it out.
