The exhibition is conceived around Roby’s childhood memories of his father, who worked as a blacksmith: the sound of hammers, the heat of the forge, the smell of charcoal, and the physical traces of daily labour. As his father gradually lost his hearing, these sounds remained deeply in the artist’s memory. Through paintings, drawings, photographs, video works, and participatory art, Roby explores the relationship between sound, memory, and loss, reflecting on how personal memories are intertwined with the practices, traditions, and cultural histories, and what remains when they begin to disappear. Resonantia Mater begins with the idea that our first connection to the world is not through sight, but through vibration. Before an infant can see or understand language, it already experiences the heartbeat, breath, blood flow, and sounds moving through the mother’s body. In this work, the figure appears at once as an ear, a womb, and a body, while its warm central form suggests the ember of life. The horizontal layers evoke sound waves moving through time, carrying memory from one generation to the next. Within SUDO RUNGU, the work reflects on hearing as something deeply connected to memory, intimacy, and human relationships. Even as sound fades, its earliest resonance may continue to live within the body. Front & Back: The Art of the Steal YouTube : MOCA BANGKOK Official If the “theft” happens openly, is it still theft? In Front & Back: The Art of the Steal, Tawatchai Somkong signs his own name on the front of each work, while the actual artist signs the back. And it is not only the artwork that is being “stolen.” The credit, biography, and recognition attached to each artist’s name also become part of the experiment. When one person’s name is placed on another person’s work, does it change the way we think about authorship, ownership, and value? Dikuratori oleh Loredana Pazzini Paracciani, SUDO RUNGU: Echoes of Fire berlangsung hingga 3 Januari 2027. by @mocabangkok

MOCA BANGKOK For Somphong Adulyasarapan, the beauty we see on the outside is only one part of life. In “Two Dimensional Village,” people and animals appear alongside reflected images of their own skeletons, revealing a truth that often remains unseen beneath outward beauty. “We tend to see only beauty and forget that beneath it, we are all made of bones.” Discover the artist’s perspective behind the work and experience it in person at MOCA BANGKOK. ——————————————— MOCA BANGKOK • Opening hours : Tuesday – Sunday 10:00 – 18:00 (Closed on Mondays) • Tel. 02-016-5666 ——————————————— #SomphongAdulyasarapan #MOCABANGKOK #mocaartstory by @mocabangkok
