NOPA x MOCT — 3.10

STUDIO kicks off with Yerevan’s Kariné @karravetisyan, whose atmospheric, rhythm-driven selections move between electronic, bass and jazz, setting a warm and slightly otherworldly tone for the room. From there, the Nyege Nyege Showcase @nyegenyegefest takes over, bringing together three wildly distinct approaches to the dancefloor. PÖ @po_beda8 pushes through Afrocentric club sounds, Caribbean rhythms, dancehall, funk and footwork, while Shaun D @djshaund brings the fast, percussive energy of bubbling, fusing sped-up dancehall with house, chopped samples and hard-edged synths.
Scotch Rolex closes the showcase with his genre-busting live blending breakcore, gabber, bass and traditional musical influences, heavy, unpredictable and deeply rhythmic. Shhau @shhau.then then brings things back home, closing the Studio stage with dubby rhythms, dense textures and an unhurried, immersive approach to the dancefloor.

Right from the entrance, BAR welcomes you with three local heavyweights of Yerevan’s underground.

Merouj @merouj.an opens with the swagger turned all the way up, pulling from trip-hop, jungle, techno, and whatever fits the mood. éléktra @elekkktraa brings the emotional tension up, moving through heavy drums and twisted rhythms with a dark edge. Then TaronX @taronx_x_x takes over with crowd-favorite bangers and razor-sharp electro, keeping the floor locked in with tension and sharp transitions.

This Saturday, NOPA @nopa.art takes over HayFilm Cluster @hayfilmcluster for a special night of strange turns, heavy pressure and unexpected sounds. Together with MOCT @moct_yerevan, they’ve put together a one-off lineup that moves beyond the expected.

Projector Room gets restless. Kamunts @kamunts opens the night with a free-flowing mix of dubby sounds, winding things up before our guests from Rotterdam, Animistic Beliefs @animisticbeliefs, who take over with their explosive blend of electro, techno, bass and global club mutations. Kogeno @kogeno_ steps in for closing duties, pushing things further with broken rhythms, raw energy and unpredictable genre collisions.

NOPA × NYEGE NYEGE × MOCT

NOPA × NYEGE NYEGE × MOCT

We’re proud to come together with Nyege Nyege @nyegenyegefest, one of the most distinctive and influential platforms for contemporary African music

Born in Kampala, Uganda, Nyege Nyege grew from an underground party series into a festival, a record label, a studio and a residency, placing east-African and sub-Saharan sounds on the map, popularizing Tanzanian singeli, Ugandan electro-Acholi and kadodi, Malian balani, Angolan kuduro and South African gqom.

Resisting strict categorization, Nyege Nyege grew a whole generation of African musicians wanting to bridge traditional practices to modern music and global audiences. From club contexts, international festivals including Unsound, CTM, Sónar and Dekmantel to Venice’s Biennale, they are one of the leading platform for a global south perspective on electronic music.

For us, this collaboration is an opportunity to open a window into some of these sounds and scenes and bring a small part of this musical universe to Armenia.

For this night, we’ll bring together artists connected to the Nyege Nyege ecosystem Scotch Rolex, @po_beda8 and @djshaund alongside our local community, an encounter between different musical worlds and perspectives.

Italy’s Ravi Raisa takes total control of the BAR this Friday, serving up a filthy mix of niche experimental forms, broken beats, and abstract sounds. Local rising electro talent IceChain turns up the heat for an intoxicating warm-up, teasing the room before handing the decks over to TaronX to prime you right to the edge before unleashing our special guest. Then local favorite Creepyoldman steps in on closing duties to keep you locked in until the lights go up. Meanwhile, over in your beloved BAK, Nebell hands a dose of his signature mellow selections.

See you!!!!!
