MODDERSHALL, 2026 CHAMPIONS

A league championship is won with hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of small contributions, all of them chucked on the pile you’re slowly building – ball by ball, over by over, match by match – until suddenly it’s mid-September, autumn is at the door, and a final league table is there to be seen, to put the final full-stop on the story.

No single contribution, small or large, is ever the reason you win a league title. But if you subtract even one of those contributions from the pile, the outcome might well be very different. “Every little helps,” as the Tesco ad put it. One diving stop at cover that saves a boundary in a game you win by two runs might mean 10 or 12 points more – the difference between an end-of-season do that’s full of euphoria and one where you’re drowning your sorrows over the what-might-have-beens. Every league title, without exception, is won this way: a collective effort of adding little contributions to the pile.
