Things change fast. This is DadE, all in one year.

I knew before, but not how bad. We couldn’t get his doctor to see him, let alone give him the Medicaid test he was supposed to have. When he failed it, nobody did anything.

He died of severe Alzheimer’s with psychosis. He was still him, just changing. He died at home with us, in our arms.. and still holds our heart.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has shown my family and me so much love and support during one of the hardest times in our lives. Whether you’ve been in our corner since day one or ran with us in the final stretch, your presence and kindness have meant the world.

At my Dad’s memorial, we had standing room only with family and friends from across the country - countless stories of how he touched their lives filled the room as we celebrated his life. It was a true testament to the incredible man he was and the love he inspired in so many. The energy in the room was tangible, and I know he felt it too.

I miss him dearly; however I’m comforted knowing he left a legacy of love and connection that will live on through all of us.

To everyone that has showed their love in one way or another... thank you for being part of that legacy. by @modebylo

After an amazing experience serving on the panel, I’m thrilled to celebrate The Chicago Schools 2nd Annual State of Mental Health Summit, where we focused on the current state of Black Mental Health in America. These discussions are vital and I was truly honored to contribute amongst this incredible line up.

Did you know that..
🫨21% of Black Americans report needing mental health care, yet only 1:3 Black adults who report needing services, are actually able to receive it?
💙 the barriers resulting from bias rooted in historical and structural stigma only exacerbate the issue of inadequate culturally competent care, given that only 4% of psychologists and 2% of psychiatrists in the US are Black.

Most importantly…
🫂 You don’t have to be in this alone 🫂

A massive shoutout to those who came - our talks on stage were just as important as the conversations that followed and that will continue to happen.

Let’s keep this momentum going and drive real change together!
