I was walking along the sidewalk in the first photo when I nearly fell on the slippery walkway because of the wet leaves. An older neighbor was standing near the bridge, all chatty, and I told her, (half joking) someone should put up a warning sign about the slippery area. She replied, "Oh I know the owners! Right at one corner of the Venice Canals is this green 1970s house at 2602 Grand Canal, from the Charlie's Angels era. Egregiously banal, it occupies a kind of nostalgic moment where you realize that this is half a century old, perhaps even a historical structure. The canals used to have beat up, small wood cottages, but those have been essentially erased and replaced with all the oversized ugliness of the 21st century. Manhattan Beach Pier view. We are expecting a tropical storm in six days from the latest tumult in the eastern Pacific. Like the rest of the planet we have played host to new, bizarre weather conditions. With the Pacific warming we have humidity which rarely came before 2020. Storms off Baja California have now crossed the border and our clouds yesterday were dark and menacing. We used to take for granted cool, dry nights, but in the last week the sleeping hours were moist and warm. With the slowdown in the pressure systems caused by a reduction in arctic cold, the climate walks with a cane, slowly, staying in place for weeks instead of blowing away in days. The suicidal choices of greed and oil brought us here and I wonder if another artificial master is waiting to take over Planet Earth when we're gone. taken in MacLeod Ale Brewing Co. by @modernandrewca
