Best run of of a stage so far in my competitive shooting journey, not a perfect match but I’ll take wins where I can get them.

Getting better every match

DRY FIRE!!!

This is one of my favorite dry fire drills.

1” squares at 5 yards.

On the beep draw and “fire” 1 round into one of the 1” squares on your target.

My goal is to do it under 1.5 seconds.

I do it 10 times, and repeat the session 3 times before moving to a different skill.

What this drill focuses on:
1) reaction to the timer
2) consecutive consistent draws
3) consecutive consistent grips
4) trigger prep
5) consistent dot acquisition
6) consistent trigger press

Making the decision to have my lower right leg amputated was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. I wasn’t sure what my path back to firearms instruction would look like, or if there’d be one at all. There was a lot to relearn: stance, balance, weight transfer, all the fundamentals I used to take for granted.

I’m back. Not the same as before, but sharper in some ways. I feel more deliberate, more patient, and better equipped to help students learn and be safe.

I am teaching a Performance Pistol course October 3rd. If you are interested there is a link in my bio.

Upgraded dry fire spot,

1 percent better every day. by @modernfrontierdefense

Two no shoots and a miss. Not my best performance, but it was what I could do on that day at that time. That’s all we get. Lots more work to do, still have time to get to A class before the end of the year.

Didn’t get any video because I didn’t ask anyone to film. by @modernfrontierdefense

Have a lot of work to do to get where I want to go. My biggest shortfall is movement between shooting positions.

This was my first match in a long time.

We’re gonna get there. by @modernfrontierdefense

Took a performance red dot class with @hunterfreelandshooting in pursuit of my GM goals.

He is a GM level man and shooter to boot. Gave me a lot of homework and showed me what shooting at that level looks like. I have a lot of work to do homies.

If you have the chance, take his class. It is worth every penny and you’ll also have a great time simmering in frustration realizing you aren’t as good as you thought you were. by @modernfrontierdefense

Took a @teknicalmethodz class this weekend hosted by @psoctraining.

Let me tell you, one of the most authentic and best humans to be in this space of teaching people around firearms. Phenomenal instructor and got me over a plateau I’ve been chasing for awhile.

I’m gonna tell everyone I can to take one of his classes and I will definitely be back. by @modernfrontierdefense

Starting to work strong and weak hand index. Still not confident with my weak hand but that’s gonna change.
