We’ve loved every moment of this wonderful ride, but sadly, it’s time to say goodbye. Challenging trading conditions mean we can no longer produce MG, which, for the past decade, has proudly held its own special place among gardening titles, with our motto: ‘No green fingers required!’

Inside this farewell issue, you’ll find:

✨ Trends that will shape 2026
✨ Genius hacks to make gardening easier than ever
✨ 15 ways to pet-proof your indoor greenery
✨ The ultimate ‘one more plant’ excuse list + take our quiz to see where you score on our Houseplant Hoardometer!
… and so much more!

We hope these inspiration-packed pages spark creativity long after this issue. Thank you for growing with us – keep spreading the gardening bug and making your outdoor spaces thrive!

With heartfelt thanks to every reader and advertiser who helped make MG the most enjoyable magazine on the shelves,
The Modern Gardens Team x

PS If you’re a subscriber to MG, the good news is that you will automatically be switched over to our sister title Garden Answers. It’s a great magazine (and you’ll get free seeds every month too!) so we very much hope you’ll find it’s packed with inspiration to help you on your gardening journey. If you’re not a subscriber, do check out Garden Answers in the shops – we think you’ll love it. by @moderngardens

🌿✨ The ultimate garden multi-tasker ✨🌿
Evergreen, tough, stylish – and a total wildlife magnet. Hedera (ivy) works hard all year round, whether your garden’s wild and romantic or sleek and modern.
🌱 Let it scramble up walls for secret-garden vibes
🌿 Use it as low-maintenance ground cover
🌳 Train smaller-leaved varieties into topiary for a chic twist
💡Flip the script and hang in sleek, upside-down planters – perfect for adding greenery without cluttering your floor space
💚 Foliage comes in deep green or variegated with creamy white or golden edges.
Leaf shapes range from tiny and neat to bold and star-like.
📏 In pots, it behaves. Left to roam, it can reach 20m+ with support!
🦋 But the real magic? Ivy’s a lifeline for wildlife:
– Birds nest in its dense foliage
– Bees love its late-season flowers
– Butterflies and ladybirds hibernate in its leafy tangle
Whether clipped or wild, ivy brings structure, style and life to your garden.
