Still dreaming. Still building. Just… quietly.

It has been a while.

Life has been full — our jobs, our families, and the everyday realities of paying the bills have taken center stage. One of us has also been navigating ongoing health challenges with a family member, which has required time and energy we simply could not divert elsewhere. MPR (Modified Pet Resort) remains a dream we hold close, but right now, our energy is focused on the work and responsibilities that keep things moving forward.

We also want to be honest: we have had little to no support with MPR. It has been largely just the two of us carrying this vision, and that is not sustainable when life demands so much of our time and energy elsewhere.

Here is the thing — we knew this would be hard. We went into it with our eyes wide open, knowing the challenges. What we did not expect was the lack of support from people who claim to love animals. We thought real animal lovers would care about a pet resort that actually puts pets first — not profit. But we have learned that even in the pet industry, passion doesn’t always translate to support.

We are not saying this for sympathy — just for transparency. We have had to make some tough choices about where to focus.

We have not forgotten about MPR. Not for a moment.

We are still here. Still refining the plans. Still imagining Moddy’s tail wags and Rota‑Rose’s dignified glances. Still believing that one day, this dream will become a reality.

But for now, we are taking a pause — not a stop. We are waiting for the pace of life to slow down so we can give MPR the attention it deserves.

To everyone who has followed along, supported us, and believed in what we are building — thank you. Your encouragement means more than you know.

We will be back. When the time is right. With the same heart and the same vision.

Real life. Real dreams. One post at a time.

You may have noticed we don’t always post exactly on Mondays and Fridays.

Here is the honest truth: building Modified Pet Resort is our dream, but right now, it is not our full‑time job. We still have other careers that keep us busy, and sometimes those jobs take priority — because bills, because responsibilities, because life. One of us (Tr) is also her mother’s primary caretaker, so family comes first, too.

So if a post goes up a day late (or a week late), please know: we are still working on MPR. Just not always on the keyboard.

We are always:
✅ Refining our facility plans
✅ Researching the best care practices
✅ Talking with investors
✅ Dreaming up the resort your pets deserve

And yes, sometimes that means posting takes a back seat. We will keep showing up — as we are able, with our whole hearts. Thank you for being here while we build something special.

@ludacris @ludacrisfdtn Facts, brother! No one wants to support our vision, but it’s okay; we are not giving up. I don’t understand people who have to talk down on others’ dreams because they’re scared to follow through or pull the trigger on theirs. People saying they don’t want to donate or support because we are asking for too much. Do you know how it costs to start a company? This isn’t some overnight price; this is over 23 years of working in this industry. Seeing mostly the bad and some good. What works and what doesn’t. Obviously, you’re not REAL animal lovers. You only have them for a prop. I’ve seen owners who knew how unsafe a place is yet they still continued to bring their pets. Then when something happened, I could only say “I told you so”. I stayed working at places because I cared more for animals than a paycheck. That’s what real animal lovers do. This is why we like dogs more. by @modifiedpetresort

Spring has sprung — and at Modified Pet Resort, that means two very different reactions.

Moddy is already outside, rolling in grass, sniffing everything.
Rota‑Rose is on her sunny windowsill, observing with dignified patience.

Whether your pet is an outdoor explorer or an indoor ruler, here are our top spring safety tips.

🐾 FOR DOGS (Moddy’s Must‑Knows)
🌼 Toxic plants — Lilies, tulips, daffodils, azaleas, sago palms. Keep them out of reach.

🐜 Critter check — Ticks and fleas are waking up. Stay on prevention. A tick check after every walk is non‑negotiable.

🧴 Fertilizer & mulch — Many lawn products are toxic. Keep dogs off treated areas until dry.

💧 Fresh water always — Hydration matters more as temperatures rise.

🐱 FOR CATS (Rota‑Rose’s Royal Reminders)
🌷 Toxic plants — Lilies are extremely toxic to cats. Even pollen can be fatal. Keep them out of the house entirely.

🏡 Indoor‑only cats — Check window screens. A loose screen can lead to an escape. Be mindful of open doors.

🌳 Cats with outdoor access — Supervise or secure outdoor time (catios, harnesses). Watch for antifreeze spills. Keep up with flea/tick prevention.

🧊 Fresh water — Multiple clean sources encourage hydration. Rota‑Rose recommends a tuna water ice cube as a special treat.

🧘 Calm environment — Spring brings more noise. Create safe hiding spots indoors.

Happy staff. Healthy pets. It’s really that simple.

We talk a lot about the care your pets will receive at Modified Pet Resort. But here is something you might not expect us to talk about:

How we treat our staff.

In most pet care facilities, employees are overworked, underpaid, and often treated as replaceable. They work long hours. They clean up messes. They comfort scared animals. And when they speak up about problems? Too often, they are ignored — or retaliated against.

We know. We lived it.

That is why at MPR, staff well‑being is not an afterthought. It is a foundation.

One of the most important things we will offer our team is paid mental health days.

Burnout is real. The emotional toll of caring for animals — day after day, often under stressful conditions — can weigh heavily. Add to that the pressure of demanding clients and the weight of responsibility for living beings, and it becomes clear: rest is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

Cats are not small dogs. They never should be treated that way.

At most pet facilities, cats are an afterthought.

A few cages in a quiet corner. Maybe a shelf if they are lucky. Same food bowls. Same lighting. Same everything as the dogs — just smaller.

That is not how cats work. And that is not how Modified Pet Resort works.

We asked Moddy to describe his perfect day. He had thoughts. (Mostly about snacks.)

If you have ever met a Golden Retriever, you know they have exactly two modes:

Full-speed chaos

Full-speed nap

Moddy is no exception. So when we sat him down (he lasted approximately 4 seconds) and asked about his favorite things, here is what we learned:

🐶 Moddy’s Ideal Day:

☀️ Morning: Wake up. Tail wag. Immediately check if breakfast is happening. (It better be happening.)

🍓 Breakfast: Frozen strawberry-banana bites, served slowly so he can savor them. Peanut butter lip-licking optional but encouraged.

🌳 Mid-morning: Playtime in The Racetrack. Zoomies. Tug Of War. More zoomies. Maybe a friend to chase, maybe a friend to chase him. Either way, running is the point.

💤 Lunch nap: Orthopedic bed. Sunbeam. Soft snores. Dreams about squirrels.

🧊 Afternoon snack: A frozen Kong with plain yogurt and blueberries. The perfect way to cool down and feel like a champion.

🐾 Evening: Belly rubs. All the belly rubs. Followed by more belly rubs. If you stop, he will stare at you until you resume. This is the law.

🛏️ Bedtime: Curled up somewhere cozy, one eye open in case someone mentions the word “treat.”

We spent 40 years inside the pet care industry. Then we walked away to build something better.

We are Tr Robinson and Robyne Green. Between us, we have over 40 years of hands-on experience in doggy daycare, professional grooming, and animal caretaking.

Along the way, we saw things that broke our hearts. Empty water bowls left for hours. Suites weren’t cleaned between pet guests. Medications were never properly given.

Here is what we need you to understand: When we saw those things, we did not walk away. We fixed them. Right then and there. We filled the water bowls. We cleaned the suites. We gave every animal the care they deserved — because it was never “just a paycheck” to us. It was love.

We trusted management/owners would eventually fix the systems that allowed these problems to happen. They didn’t. And when we spoke up, we faced retaliation.

Snow is falling again. Paws are calling. ❄️🐾

Winter is reminding us who is in charge today.

Moddy? Thrilled. Tail wagging, snow on his nose — living his best life.

Rota-Rose? She has opinions. Strong ones. “Absolutely not.”

Warm windowsill. Soft light. Watching chaos from a safe distance. She loves Moddy. She does not love snow.

Both approaches are valid. 🐕❄️🐈

Here in the DMV, the snow is piling up again. If your dog is thrilled about it, here are cold-weather reminders from our frozen paws to yours:

🐕 Boots + paw care — Salt and ice-melt chemicals can burn paws and upset tummies. Boots = protection. At minimum, rinse paws when inside and check between toes for ice.

🐕 Keep it short — Snow-loving dogs get cold faster than they realize. Quick zoomies, then a warm towel and cozy spot.

🐕 Watch for antifreeze — Smells sweet to pets. Highly toxic. Wipe paws after walks.

🐕 Know your cat’s opinion — Most cats (ahem, Rota-Rose) say “absolutely not” to snow. A sunny window is adventure enough.

🐕 Water matters — Snow is not a water source. Cold air dehydrates. Fresh water always. (No, they cannot eat the yellow snow. Yes, we had to say it.)

Moddy is currently trying to convince us snow is frozen treats falling from the sky. We admire his optimism. 🐶❄️
