Modirwa is a Musical Artist. I use my first name as my artist name. My full artist name is Modirwa Ke Morena which means ‘Created by God’. This is the thesis of my artistry. It is a way to reclaim myself and all the assigned identities I have been given. My music allows me to say exactly how I feel without fear. The music is a way for me to express my creativity and to tell the story of my life. My African identity is a huge influence on my music, I use my Northern Sotho language when English cannot express the depth of what I feel about the world, myself, my queer identity, my creator and I hope that one day this music will be a lifeline for someone like me, who needed a queer Northern Sotho Musical Artist. This music is a soundscape of my journey as a human on this Earth. I want to tell my story through my art. And music is one of the art forms I can make. So…enjoy 💕 by @modirwa_

Who’s back there?

Obviously…you’ve changed my life.

I took Obviously (my EP) of the platforms. I am at peace with having had it out and now removing it. Both feel equally beautiful, meaningful and perfect.

That EP gave me one of my most important songs: State k*lled a Man. I remember every time I would sing that song people would be so moved by it. I was lucky to have been able to sing for people and see how they react to those songs. It was like singing to my closest friends and seeing the love in their eyes. It’s one of those songs you can only experience from giving things a try especially with ART. It felt good. I’ll probably record it one day in the future when the spirit feels right.

Those who enjoyed those songs. Thank you. I made a lot of cranky ART in my lifetime, that I at some point regretted ever putting out but it has alot of creative integrity (In the age of AI). I value it so much. I know my music is meant for something so major. Hence some is still out there. But now I am a different person. I’m still making music, I don’t think I’ll ever stop.

But I mostly only feel comfortable sharing new music with close friends. I wonder if I’ll release new songs again. I’m making them for sure. But idk yet about releasing them. It has to feel right. And I will wait for that feeling to come before I do anything. Growth🥹👌🏾✨😌 by @modirwa_
